I don't want to harp on anybody but you said exactly what's been on my mind since the last minute of the 3rd period. Lazy backhand by Franzen along the 1/2 wall doesn't get out, 10 seconds later the game is tied. Everybody played hard and unfortunate, albeit careless play by Hudler. But Franzen shoud've cleared that ******* puck and we should've been celebrating hours ago.
robat 13 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 (edited) Don't hurt yourself jumping off the wagon. Oh and it's not one persons fault. They had a lot of chances that they didn't execute on. Thats one thing I have learned in the past 14 years of playing hockey. Edited June 3, 2008 by robat

Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Don't hurt yourself jumping off the wagon. Why does somebody have to be "jumping off the wagon". What he said was true. Franzen failed to clear....again. And it wasn't like he had anybody draped on him. He had an opportunity to clear on his backhand and he failed to do it again. That's just a hard truth. LOL funny stuff. because he made a bone head play now its jumping off the "wagon" any true fan would be pissed the f*** right off that he couldnt clear the damn puck. GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Riight lets find one person and blame over 100 minutes of hockey on him. Sure Franzen could have cleared that puck but Kronner coulda have not roofed it on Osgood, Rafalski could have skated harder to the puck on the first goal and the forwards could have scored on one of there many great chances in the OT's. Its a team loss. This thread is stupid.
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Osgood screwed it up..he let in very weak 3rd goal. Both teams played their guts out so I am not made at Hudler or Franzen or anybody else. I just am a bit miffed that Franzen didn't put any ass on that clear. Maybe it's his backhand that's the problem. That's twice he's done this in crucial games. Other than that I thought Mule had a decent game. But that non clear just would not get out of my mind.

Daniel Chosen 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 Hmmm, I'm surprised to see the Franzen and Osgood hate threads and not a Kronwall one. I thought for sure if the Wings lost by 1 that I would see one of those.

Its a team loss. This thread is stupid. Actually the thread isn't stupid. There's some merit to it. He had a chance to clear. We had what, 40 seconds to go to winning the Cup and he has every opportunity to clear. And he simply banks it straight off the boards back into the play? It didn't even get up the wall. It was a terrible attempt by Franzen. W/O that muff, there's no OT and there's no Pittsburgh winning game 5.
C-Dub 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I would be more inclinded to say...Dear Franzen, why didn't you put one of those awesome chances you had in? Of course I could say the same about Sammy, or Helm, or Flip, Dats...if you miss that many chances in OT you just won't win. Give credit to Pittsburg, to have Gonchar out for most the game, on the road, in OT, facing the end of the line...they showed tremendous composure and the will to fight adversity. Fleury played legendarily tonight. The Wings played an outstanding game and put themselves in a position to win...multiple times. Blaming one player is ridiculous. 10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted June 3, 2008 I don't hate Franzen, he's one of my favorite players. But god damn, to be that close and all u have to do is clear the puck. I wouldnt be making this thread, but he seems to fail to clear ALOT.

But that was a puck he should've been able to clear. He didn't. And in hindsight, it's the biggest gaff of the game IMO. Mule has still been awesome this postseason but that lazy clear attempt is just sticking in my gut it hurts so bad. Now that I think about it, did he try to clear that on his forehand? God I hope not. If that was on his forehand and he didn't get it out i'm really going to feel s***ty. Oh well, on to game 6. No offense intended but I find scoring on your own team alot more of a gaff than not clearing a puck.

Mule has still been awesome this postseason but that lazy clear attempt is just sticking in my gut it hurts so bad. One play doesn't win the game just as one play doesn't lose it. I bet you $1 that if you rewind 30 seconds before that, you could find another something where someone made a mistake that wouldn't have even led to Franzen needing to clear the puck. Which is the precise reason why it makes no sense to even harp on about it. You win as a team and you lose as a team. I am sure Hudler will have a hard time finding sleep tonight, these kinds of penatlies will, quite literally, kill you.
