YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 http://www.rds.ca/senateurs/chroniques/253730.html Thats a step in the right direction for the Sens. The fact that he got bought out pretty much secures the idea that he had no takers for his contract. Not even traded for future considerations. Any ideas on destinations? Im thinking somebodys going to get desperate for a decent tender, but before you say it, I heard during the season that LA wanted no part of Emery.

kylee 727 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 ^ not very surprised by this one. the Sens were unstoppable the first half of the year, then after that, not so much.
HenryMalredo 2 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 Emery could probably do well on another team. He looked pretty solid the year before. He has his problems, but the Sens did nothing to help him and it seems that the lockeroom environment is one of the worst in the NHL, despite the talent. They ignored his problems when he was winning, but through him under the bus when he played poorly and the team choked in the playoffs.
imisssergei 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2008 This guy is a locker room cancer. He needs to goto a team with a strong veteran presence that will help keep him in line. Here are a few teams that come to mind that might be interested in goaltending help: Atlanta, Boston, Carolina, Chicago, Colorado, Edmonton, L.A., Minnesota, Phoenix, Tampa, Toronto, and Washington. Washington will give Huet whatever he asks for. It's just a matter of whether or not Huet wants to be there. Out of all the teams I listed, I can't really seen anyone but Atlanta or Edmonton being really interested.

DSM 114 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 It won't be with the wings, but I'm sure we'll still be seeing him in the NHL. His best bet would probably be to sign with a team that isn't in the spotlight much. Somewhere like Tampa Bay or Phoenix.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 I thought the buyout period did'nt start until tomorrow?. 15th-30th or something like that?. Yeah thats when it starts. Its all but set in stone however. Chicago wanted to pull of a Khabibulin for Emery trade if Im not mistaken, but Ottawa wouldnt take it. Im betting Chicago targets him like they did Lalime. Denis Savard is exactly the type of coach that can keep the kid in line. Not to mention, Savard is a boxing fan, so he and Emery will have stuff to bond over. daniel1 32 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) I don't think anyone will take a chance on him until he goes somewhere non-NHL and proves that he's grown up enough to be a team player and a better human being. It's not like this guy was Marty Brodeur of the 90's before he started blowing off practices, fighting with his teamates, and pulling the pout when he was relegated to #2. You could argue that Emery was one of the main reasons the coach in Ottawa lost his job and their season went into the toilet. The chemistry was never the same on that squad after Emery's antics. I don't think there is a GM in the league that wants to take a chance on ruining their team's entire season cause "wittle ray ray" might not get his way and not be allowed to show up for work whenever he wants to. In my opinion this is a good move for Ottawa to cut ties to this clown and show the rest of the team that no one is above the team. This is a first step in rebuilding the command structure and Emery got what he deserved in the end too which is icing on the cake for the organization. Oh, et un autre chose... pour tout les Americans et Saskatchewanians aime moi sur cette board, il y a un link en Anglais quel que chose? S'il vous plait et merci. Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 15, 2008 (edited) How are Washington and Los Angeles "Long Shots"? I also read Raycroft might be bought out. So Toronto might not be all that far off of an option. Los Angeles has no use for Ray Emery. Recall that in addition to an atrocious work-ethic and terrible relations with his teammates, Emery's numbers this year were also hideous. Los Angeles---and everyone else---has no use for a goalie who is all of a locker-room cancer, a liability off the ice, and a poor performer on the ice. Further, it should be taken into account that unmeritorious conduct in the locker room does also have a very adverse effect on a group's ability to play on a team. This will all combine to make Emery extremely unattractive on the open market. Should L.A. continue to be unable to find a better goaltender---and I find this unlikely---they would be better off, overall, continuing with LaBarbera than with Emery in net. The same goes for Washington; they're better off signing CuJo than picking up Emery. There is no way in hell that Emery will find himself in Toronto. They have the money to go for someone far better and more stable as a backup. Edited June 15, 2008 by Crymson

Boston wasn't happy with either goaltender Carolina needs a backup to push Ward Minny could move one of the kids for some scoring help up front Phoenix needs a quality backup Toronto looks like will part with Raycroft Again, I said Atlanta and Edmonton being the only teams with real interest. imisssergei 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 Not true. There is a gap between what Washington and what is Huet looking for. There is always a gap, that is why the negotiate. The bottom line is with Kolzig gone, the way Huet preformed, Washington's cap space, and the severe lack of quality starting netminders available all play to Huet's advantage. They will sign him if he wants to stay.

Boston wasn't happy with All-Star participant and playoff starter Tim Thomas? That's news to me. Given that Fernandez was injured and is impossible to move, I daresay I don't know how they could be 'unhappy' with him either in the regard you're referring to. Carolina does not need a locker-room cancer, nor do they need anybody to 'push' their quite-good starting goaltender. In any event, they surely don't need Emery. Minnesota will not be moving Harding, their goalie of the future. They will also not be moving Backstrom, as he is cheap and able and Harding is not ready to take the starting job. Phoenix has a quality backup. His name is Mikael Tellqvist. He went 9-8 last year with a .908 SV% on a crappy team. Emery went 8-9 with a .890 GGA on a team stacked with talent. That Toronto may dump Raycroft does not mean that they will sign someone like Emery. You are forgetting the fact that, in addition to his severe off-ice issues, Emery had an atrocious season in net. Teams will not be lining up for the services of an unreliable locker-room cancer with a terrible work ethic and dubious skill in net.
