blikst 1 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) Lidström and his family visited Västerås earlier today. The smallest kid seemed very shy; answering "mnnnn" when asked what his name was. Then Nick talked a little bit about his career and achievements. It was pretty much a basic interview, talking about his great season, that it's helpful it is to play with a lot of Swedes and how great the team spirit are in Detroit. He also mentioned that this is definitely one of his best season yet, also bringing up '02 where he though he played well. Then he said that before he was drafted he wanted to play for Toronto since he was a Börje Salming fan, knowing it wasn't something he should talk about out loud when Detroit got him. But he soon realized Detroit was a good team to play for (obviously since he's been there since). And of course he got the question if he would move back to Sweden and play hockey here. He answered diplomatically saying he would feel how his body holds up when his contract ends and then decide with his family weather or not they will move back. Oh and one more thing he mentioned: Chelios is old. That was pretty much it. I would have stayed for an autograph but I had to leave before the press was through with him. Here's some pictures: The announcer, Curt Lundmark (Swedish olympic coach in 94). Nick steps up on the stage. His family joins him. They answer a few questions. When Nick talks, everyone listens. They give him some weed or something. Happy days. Family foto. Media nabs him. Here is a small vid (about one minute) with Lidström talking. The crowd isn't that large but since this was a in the spur of the moment thing, it's quite ok. (Not 1.4 million though ) Here you can see a segment from the local newspaper. http://tv.vlt.se/broadcast/view/id/46657 Why does every reporter think it's fun to interview kids all the time. He asked three kids how they feel about getting Nick's autograph: -Good -Fun -Good and fun Here is another segment from the regional news. If you see someone with a blue jacket taking a photograp about 40 seconds in, it's probably me SVT news Edited June 16, 2008 by blikst
Stockholm-wing 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Did he say anything about bringing "Stanley" to Västerås (sometime end of July) or will he bring it elsewhere? I really hope he brings it to Västerås like he did in -02.

I think I read somewhere that he's going to bring it to Avesta, but I would guess that he might make an appearance in Västerås with it again (Seriously how much time do you want to spend in a place like Avesta ). Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 (edited) Next on my to-do list is learn Swedish. You guys might find this funny. I had to do a research paper on a European country's current problems, and I ended up having to do Sweden. I did some research, and came to the conclusion that it's top three problems were: 1. Quality of life too high. 2. Women too beautiful. 3. Risk of loss of sovereignty by invasion too likely as Russia rises to pre-Democratic political structure and ideals. I got an A on the paper, though. Edited June 16, 2008 by Earthhuman

Kronwall55 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Hey, we think alike. Except I was thinking of him as more of a future Wing. Does he play hockey? He did play hockey...probably still does. I think that's the boy that was/is a goalie. I also noticed that all the boys have buzz cuts...except the one. Maybe he's a rocker instead of a hockey player?? tiff_luvs_homer 5 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) Just think if Lidstrom's boys were to marry Yzerman's girls.....Can we say more HOF worthy hockey players? yeah, but how would "Yzerman-Lidstrom" fit on the back of a jersey? I think the boy with the longer hair is a cutie, all of the boys are good looking but none of them really look like Nick. They look more like their mom. they must have just gotten haircuts before they left for Sweden since this photo was from last week's awards: Edited June 18, 2008 by tiff_luvs_homer
