Is it wrong that this is the pick I'm most excited about? lol

Me too! Especially since I get the feeling that Hakan Andersson had this guy in his back pocket all draft and knew we didn't need to take him until the end. Here's to the next late steal, see you in six years!

God, I hope there's no relation.

Yeah, it'd be a shame to be related to a guy that scored half of the goals to win game 1 for his team of the SCF, and help set up one of the goals in the final game to win the Stanley Cup. I mean what a lazy jackass he is right?

Yeah really. I hate how everyone makes fun of Sammy. I'm pretty sure there's only like 3 supporters on this whole site. Anyway, with our luck Sammy Jr. will become a beast like Hank and Pavel. We're so awesome at drafting players it's ridiculous!!

And players and coaches have always harped on him to shoot. I'd heed the advice of the coaches and players. His shooting percentage might not be all that respectable but even if (IF, not when like many will say in here) he does miss the net half the time when shoots, if you don't shoot, you can't score or set up rebound opportunities for others.

dunno if you've noticed but most of the shots he takes don't end up as rebounds

The problem I have with Sammy, is not that he doesnt shoot, it's when he decides to. His shot selection is terrible. Sammy may be the worst 2on1 player in the league. Can he score? Of course, no doubting that. But if you look at his goals in the playoffs, only 1 or 2 were a result of nice shots. The rest were right place at the right time or a wrap around. I will never discredit that Samuelson is a good NHL player, but the reason people dislike him is his shot selection. Why do you think people moan and groan and say "Nice shot Sammy" or "Right at the goalies chest".

[sarcasm] Yeah I really hated how his forechecking led directly to at least two post season goals! [/sarcasm]

I love the argument that he shoots too much and he sucks on the point, however an NHL coach (who has posted back to back to back 50 wins seasons and JUST won the Stanley cup) seems to be telling all of his players, including Sammy, to shoot more and puts him on the point. Because soooooooo many posters here know more than Babcock when it comes to the players and team.

When Franzen was on fire, the best line on the team per MIKE BABCOCK, was Mule Flip Sammy, but, I mean what does he know!

Sammy has become expendable because of the progress of Mule and Hudler, his role has become less, he could be traded but most likely will not, especially if the Wings don't sign a righthanded shot for the 2nd pp, which is the main reason (guess on my part) Babs keeps him there, he likes a left and right handed shot on the points.

But don't hold your breath there are posters on here that gave all the credit to everyone else on the team even when he had the 2 goal performance, so don't expect too much from them!

Really I can think of at least 2 players on his own team that I that are worse than him 2 on 1, Downey and Maltby come to mind. I can think of many defenseman in the league I would rather not have on a 2 on 1 than him. But that is opinion, much like you have yours, I just don't see the need for ragging on a guy who had 3 goals in the SCF series in every possible thread makes any kind of sense!

But the last part is mainly because everyone needs a whipping boy and aren't happy until they can ***** at some player.

They are the same people who all year ragged on guys like D and Z and Lids, going so far as to say that he needed to be stripped of his captaincy, that will tell you the mental reasoning levels of these people.

But you are right, because some one posts on an internet forum that a guy only hits a goalie in the chest, I should believe it.

How did I know you would quote the post. Cool, Sammy's better then Maltby and Downey, that's saying a ton right?

Are you saying I do that? I say good things about Sammy when he does good things, and I say bad things when he does bad things. What do you expect? I do that with EVERY player.

I was one of the ones who believed Lidstrom was a perfect replacement for Yzerman, I'm not quite sure what this has to do with Samuelson, but I thought you'd know.

You watch the games, and if you are really satisfied with Samuelsons shooting choice, then that's fine. But he does shoot it right at the goalie most of the time, or hit shin pads. I'm not ragging on the guy, I'm posting facts, he scores every once in a while, but he doesnt do alot else. Sorry if I dont have the same opinion as Sammy as you do Opie, but I guess that's why it's an opinion.
