Remember Val has to accept the offer, and from what I have read online (I know don't trust everything you read on the internet) he wants to stay a wing and the wings want him around. Maybe just maybe he thinks he has a chance at a couple of Cups and that is what motivates him, maybe he had so much fun with Huds at the parade he wants to do it 3-4 more times!!!!
