YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 4.1M for a guy whos best season came when he played 50% of his games as a forward? Surprisingly, its a more respectable deal than I thought. He was rumored to get 4.5-5.

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Man, I like Mark Streit, but he's a $2.5 million guy, not 4.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Good deal, IMO. He's a guy who can play both positions. Montreal was the best powerplay team in the NHL last season, and Streit was a big reason. 4M is not alot at all, this is one of the few fair deals today. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted July 2, 2008 Man, I like Mark Streit, but he's a $2.5 million guy, not 4. Well, the question is.... What does $4m get you from a forward? How about $4m from a defenseman? Consider that question. Now consider that Streit is coming off a 60+ point season and has averaged better than .5 PPG over his NHL career. $4m isn't a bad deal for Streit if he produces offense to the level he has the past couple seasons, regardless of whether he is up front or on the blueline.
