skacore 2 Report post Posted July 4, 2008 I wouldn't blame him. But I hope he tries to earn a spot here before demanding a trade or what not. He's been trying to earn a spot since the 05-06 season and he's only ever shown that he is very capable of an NHL job, he's shown he's very passionate and brings an element of toughness we don't really have on our back end right now... if he isn't given an real opportunity to secure his spot on the team then I hope he demands a trade, it's sad seeing such young potential rotting away in the minors year after year. Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted July 4, 2008 I think he would of made the team last year if he hadn't broken his hand.. This year is his last hooray and if he doesn't make the tema this year, he will have to be traded.. I love quincey with a passion, i hope he is given a shot.. a real genuine shot. vangvace 12 Report post Posted July 4, 2008 So left unsigned per NHLnumbers is... Howard Downey Drake Filppula McCarty Hartigan Chelios (I could have sworn he was signed already but whatever) Ericsson Quincey oh and I got fear shivers looking at next years current FA list. SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted July 4, 2008 Ericsson has another option in Grand Rapids without having to worry about waivers, so I highly doubt he's going anywhere. Quincey, not entirely sure. He's out of options I think with the minors and it just depends on injuries if there are any on the d-line, and his performs well, etc.

Howard Downey Drake Filppula McCarty Hartigan Chelios (I could have sworn he was signed already but whatever) Ericsson Quincey oh and I got fear shivers looking at next years current FA list. Howard, Filppula, Chelios, Ericsson and Quincey aren't going anywhere. Downey, Mac or Hartigan would have to accept a 2-way contract. Holland has said several times already he's going to carry extra Dmen and that's a good call after what happened last February.

Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted July 5, 2008 I want hartigan back, not for DET, for GR, because he is a great player who plays with an edge and a offensive arsenal.. Is one of those guys, Like mac where the kids could really learn alot from.

Hartigan is a dull and ineffective fourth liner so far.

Not in GR, which is where that person wants him. He had 42 points in 48 games last season. He had the fourth highest amount of points on the team, and played a lot less games than the three people above him. Griffins 07-08 Stats

Adler Mannheim 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2008 (edited) WHY was Lilja re-signed??? BIG MISTAKE he's useless Better keep the young players AND my favorite player Chris Chelios and get rid of Lilja, trade him or kill him...I don't care Edited July 5, 2008 by Adler Mannheim
Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted July 5, 2008 The way babs was talking about Lilja, it made it sound like Lilja was an insurance policy, If the kids shown they are ready they'd probaly trade Lilja.

Guest Dump-N-Thump Report post Posted July 5, 2008 Awesome i love to hear that, There is no doubt in my mind that Quincey will outplay Lilja.. BTW, I love your sig Dyags, Mostly because i love Meech.. His attitude is perfect.. As much as i love Quincey and Ericsson becuase of there ruggidness, I'd pick Meech just based on his attitude.. He has the same attitude that Matty Ellis had.. Its great.

Its great. thanks, and I def. agree when it comes to Quincey. As good as he's played, he doesn't seem to show the heart and desire that Meech has shown when he has gotten his chances. I think Meech is the better all around defensemen and also more offensively oriented than the stay at home Quincey as well. As far as Ericsson goes, he has another year to prove himself in GR if he doesn't make the roster (which is very likely). I don't see the Wings letting this kid go, everything I read oozes (sp?) man love all over him. Anyway, by next year I think there is a 95% chance lilja and Cheli will both be gone/retire and if so, there should be more room for him.. atleast thats what I'm hoping. edit: grammer Edited July 5, 2008 by DYags

That is very surprising to me.. that he put up those kinds of numbers I mean. I've only seen him in the Winged wheel and I was always left very unimpressed. He never seemed to show much skill or NHL potential, IMO, hence why I described him as being dull. In fact, he kinda reminded me of Sammy (I'm not your stereotypical Sammy basher either) because he wasn't very creative with the puck and seemed to go straight away all the time. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted July 5, 2008 For those saying they can see Lebda being moved, I completely disagree. Lebda has a ton of experience compared to Q (or Meech for that matter) and he's locked in through next year making $650,000 and $850,000 respectively. That's absolutely nothing for a player of his calibre to be making and thus, the Wings will want to hang on to him simply because of that. Q could demand about the same type of contract in Detroit but he comes without the experience. Quincey has the greater long-term upside. He did just fine in the playoffs a couple seasons ago. Superman54 91 Report post Posted July 5, 2008 In the begging I have to admit, I hated Meech. But once a heep of our defense went out, the kid did play great. Since then I do hope to see him in the lineup more this year. With Quincey, I can't quite say, considering I havent seen him play all that much. One thing I do compliment him for was his playoff performance in 07. He kept it simple, even with the amount of pressure on his shoulders, and that right there showed me what he is capable of. akustyk 84 Report post Posted July 5, 2008 (edited) Quincey has the greater long-term upside. He did just fine in the playoffs a couple seasons ago. yeah, I have to admit I liked him when he stepped up for injured Schneider and Kronwal. Quincey was very solid. if not flashy he was at least dependable and made no mistakes. I don't recall seeing Quincey a lot this year and playoffs but if there is a remote possibility we can keep him as insurance - I'd definitely like to give him another shot. but if it's not possible with Wings (which is pretty likely) I'd like to see him play regular shifts in the NHL. he looks capable to get minutes to me - it's just unlucky he was signed by a team that knows no shortcuts when it comes to its defense Lebda is a different story. he's a definite keeper for me. was brutal at times last playoffs (to me he was our worst D-men) but he's been much improved this time. if he continues even at half of his improvement pace the $850k will be a steal. and no, I'm not using Finger for comparison as for Ericsson - it's too early to say. he looked ready and mature when he played with us this season but it's just too small sample to evaluate him properly. let him get some extra seasoning and have to fight for roster spot. No worries, I understand completely. He wasn't able to accomplish a whole lot as a Wing, and if I didn't follow the Griffins I never would have thought he'd put up those numbers either.
