Interesting Fedorov Article

Fedorov is worth between 2-3M, and that's being generous. If you were to compare everyone to Jeff Finger, than most of the NHL would have maximum salaries.

your original.

For F's sake...

"You're" - meaning "you are".

"Your" - implies possession. Example: Your original idea of signing Feds was a bad one.

Here endeth the lesson.

He should definitely stay in Washington - and just negotiate something reasonable. IMO Sergei needs to redefine the twilight of his career by putting himself on the radar again - and showing the NHL what dynamic player he CAN be. What better place to do that than with the Caps and Ovechkin? He'll make decent money - and he's with a team that really could use him to flourish.

Fedorov is the most dynamic player I've ever seen play hockey - and it is just sad how his career tumbled downhill after leaving the Wings. I'd like to see him finish his last few years in the NHL with a little more noticeablility. But maybe to him the extra 2 mill is worth wasting the last few years of your career in some hockey wasteland, who knows....

You know when some asshat has to lecture another on grammar instead of offering an opinion or point of view is when the thread has run its course. After 3 pages of people offering their point of view, all I can offer are a couple thoughts.

Fedorov was a great player for the Wings.

He was a key component in each of the Stanley Cups the Wings won when he was here.

While you may not like him, you should at least respect him for what he has brought to Detroit.

I don't think he is worth 4 million a season either. I think he will probably sign for 3 million a season. I think he is worth that much thats for sure.

Could you imagine if he was making $6-7 million a year as a Red Wing all these years? Letting Fedorov walk turned out to be a great thing... I highly doubt his play would have been that much better as a Red Wing. He might have gotten bought out after the lockout, in fact.

There is no way Fedorov goes back to Russia... no way.

Seriously? The amount of crap you throw at the guy is surprising. The guy certainly isn't worth $4M anymore but after watching all of Russia's games during the WC and most of Washington's games after Feds went there I can assure you that the guy can still contribute. I don't expect him to sign for less than $3M/year.

Oh and the comment "He needed the Wings more than the Wings needed him" made me laugh; but at the same time I sort of agree with you. They guy was amazing in Detroit and was a huge part of Detroit's victories. You can see that the move to Columbus broke him and he wasn't nearly the same player there. I hope he resigns with the Caps and doesn't disappear to Russia.

Fedorov with the Wings = Amazing + Greedy

Fedorov post-Wings = Subpar + Overpaid

I'll always be grateful for his years as a Wing and he was a main cog in getting us 3, but since his departure his game has been in the toilet and the Wings continued to have success (at least regular season). I'd like to see him redeem himself on his way out by taking what he can get in Washington, deserving no more than 2 mil, to play with young stars and maybe regain some ounce of former brilliance. I know whenever I see Fedorov play in the last couple years he seems uninterested and has had several nagging injuries. 2 year - $4mil contract with Washington, if thats what you are offered, take it Sergei.
