DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 I never really liked the "next ___" question. I am not trashing just saying it is not possible. There will never be the "next" Yzerman, Wayne, Messier. If they are truly the "next" somebody then they would not need to be the "next" they would be the Toews, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Ovechkin and so on and so on. As soon as they become the "next" anybody they have made thier own image. Does that make any sense.... Yes, that makes perfect sense to me and I completely agree. But I usually just go with it for the sake of the argument.

lfd250 1 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 I would assume that who ever they guy to marry his first daughter would be the next Mr. Yzerman
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 (edited) Putting aside this "nobody can match Stevie Y's toughness" and "why are we comparing them to Yzerman" type of talk, no doubt in my mind the "closest" will be Toews. I would assume that who ever they guy to marry his first daughter would be the next Mr. Yzerman I guarantee whoever marries Stevie Y's first daughter will absolutely take her last name. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted July 11, 2008 How Yzerman didn't win Conn Smythe in '02 I will never know... That ******* Lidstrom. *shakes fist* I also think Stevie Y winning it in 1998 played some role.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted July 11, 2008 Lidstrom deserved Conn Smythe in '02, no shame in that. A coin could have been flipped between him and Stevie and heads or tails, it would have been okay. 1997 however... Vorodef Iegres should have won.

A three-sided coin between Lidstrom, Yzerman and Hasek... IMO.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted July 11, 2008 A three-sided coin between Lidstrom, Yzerman and Hasek... IMO. You forgot Dan Cloutier, for the mid-ice goal allowed, or Patrick Roy for his infamous statue of liberty bungle.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 I'm not one to judge looks on males, but Stamkos really isn't that great looking. Grow up, will you?
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted July 12, 2008 Grow up, will you? It's true. I mean to compare Stevie's looks to Stamkos' is kind of an insult.
