Bleh. ummm i would go with around $150... not positive though since last year i went with the center ice online... i think it is the same as the TV version but iam not sure since i just discovered center ice last season... <_< Edited July 17, 2008 by Duck Guy
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Personally, I didn't mind the old schedule (begin throwing fruit now) ... but if the league was going to change to more conference-vs-conference games, then why not make it home-and-homes against every team in the east? This is a watered-down solution. The NHL really needs to go all the way and make sure there are home-and-homes with every team." All this time, that's what I thought they were doing - at least two games against every team in the league. At least, that's what they had been proposing. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 All this time, that's what I thought they were doing - at least two games against every team in the league. At least, that's what they had been proposing. Thats what the players wanted, but IIRC it didn't go through. Travel costs I'm sure were the major deterrent in this coming to fruition. From what I remember, every team will play every other team in the league atleast once. It also sounds like the games against divisional opponents will be dropped to 5-6 per season. If you take that into account, that removes 8-12 games per season against division opponents, and seeing as that the old schedule had the Central division matching up with only one other division in the East (on a yearly rotating basis), I would assume those 8-12 games will each go to 10 other teams in the Eastern Conference that the Central wouldn't have played otherwise. This is a rough breakdown, but I'm assuming it will be some combination of the following: Central Division Matchups: 20-24 Games Conference Matchups: 40 Games Eastern Conference Matchups: 15-20 Games Most likely: 24 Divisional, 40 Conference, 18 Eastern Conference Games (meaning they'll play 3 teams twice)

Living in Denver, I rarely see much more than Avalanche coverage. Bleh. Yup i get all the Avs games but could certainly use MORE Wings. Center Ice usually has a free preview the first week of the season - so you can check it out. As Duckguy mentioned you can buy the online streaming for cheaper (not sure the costs this year). Be aware you can always stream any game you want (look for threads on that) but you never can be sure the quality and consistency. Another option is usually Center Ice will give a half season discount. Sometimes I've waited 'til January to buy it and they knock some off (not half price though)... Look for Center Ice threads in September with details....I'll find out the Directv cost in Denver by then... p.s if you get Directv - the NHL network airs games too Edited July 17, 2008 by RockyMountainWingGal

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Damnit all, I was so excited for the schedule to come out on the 16th.... what is the "rough cost" of Center Ice? Living in Denver, I rarely see much more than Avalanche coverage. Bleh. Center ice is about $150 for the season. I am a hockey nut, and watch more than just the Wings. For me, any live hockey game on TV is a good thing. So I buy into the Center Ice package every year on TV. $150 is small change when you consider how much hockey tickets are, drive time, gas, taxes, and so on. I live in Grand Rapids, and I can't even see a game in Detroit/Chicago for $150 for 2 people by the time you factor in gas, time, parking, and other expenses. I have been buying into the Center Ice package since the season before the lockout, and I have enjoyed each and every year I have had it. Pros: See every regular season game and 1st two rounds of the playoff games. The HD feeds are very nice Very reasonably priced Sometimes you catch games that aren't commercially interrupted so you can hear what the announcers are saying, and watch video of them working on what they will replay or you can watch what is going on when the players are at their benches. Cons: They cut the feed too quickly sometimes. Would be nice to see the postgame wrapups all the time. The hockey night in canada feeds are all SD. Would be nice to see them in HD. Wish all games were in HD instead of just 1/2 of them. Wish they would show all preseason games that are televised normally. My advice, do it.
Fireside 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) Does anyone know when tickets will go on sale? And around what time will the Stanley Cup banner be raised during the home opener? 7:30, 8:00? EDIT: Also, if I left Kalamazoo around five, could I get to Detroit around 7:30? Thanks, I've never made that trip before so I don't know. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted July 17, 2008 Islanders,Devils & Rangers are all home games. Edi will be pissed too. Bettman can go @#$% himself. Last game I got to see between the Devils and Wings out here was in December 2006 (first time they had won in Jersey since '93). Previous game? December 2001. God damn it. I seriously thought they were going to go with 2 games against every EC team this year and was all pumped for it. Oh well...at least the wife won't be able to get at me for spending cash we don't have on hockey tickets.
