Bowman named Senior Advisor to Blackhawks

this reminds me of the final scene in 'Any Given Sunday' where the coach leads a team to dramatic championship and in his press conference to announce to his supposed retirement, he goes on to say he was hired by some other club.

I bet Scotty was inspired by that and thought 'you know what that's so cool ... i'm so gonna do that. here I come Hawks'

So basically there goes half the Wings braint trust right there.

Well, if the Wings brass spells "brain" with a "t", we're not missing much. :P

After hearing this, I now wish the Leafs had worked something out with him last year. Atleast he wouldn't have been in the same conference much less division.

A big thanks for everything Scottie and best of luck (except against the Wings).

Yeah I'm not happy about this either. I can understand it if it is about being closer to his son, but it definitely stirs up the rivalry even more now.

BALLS

^^^^

This news licks them

Thanks for the many contributions to the Red Wings organization Bowman, it just sucks that its a rival team that he's going to, I understand the working with his son part but it still sucks because it's Chicago and there will be some intense games between us and them this season.

This makes me sad. We will miss you, Scotty, thanks for the Cups and the memories. I don't blame him for wanting to work with his son. It's not like Scotty's never coached or worked anywhere else, but I suppose I sort of regarded him as "ours" and thought he would retire 'a Red Wing." I have a hard time letting go of anyone who's been associated with this team.

We still have plenty of brains with a "t" in Kenny, Stevie, Jim Nill and others in the front office and organization. It's just harder to replace savvy and knowledge like Scotty's.

Oh, well... best of luck, Scotty!

The more I think about this the more it bites the clit.

Now that's funny.

On a serious note, if his son's cancer is serious, then I can totally understand why he would want to be around him as much as possible. Family first, thanks for 3 cups Scotty!

Well at least we still have Babcock, Yzerman, Holland, Nill, Andersson, Bedard and MacLean.

The Hawks have Scotty Bowman......as an advisor.

Yeah I feel pretty safe. :)

Ha maybe he'd advise them to trade Toews and Kane for Maltby and Lilja?

This isn't a big deal, since he's left several franchises before after long periods of service.

I never did understand what his position was with the Wings lately, or how much he contributed to this team's management the last couple of years.

For me, we lost Bowman when he retired in 2002. All of your reactions are misplaced and unnecessary.
