pinkprincess027 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 I am not sure what it is. I was looking at preseason tickets last night and saw it on ticketmaster. I did a search on the internet and didn't really find very much. I found that they have had one or two before one in 1994-1995 and possibly another one. In 94-95, the Wings welcomed fans back from the lockout with an open training camp--here in Detroit, so those of us who can’t afford to go to Traverse City could attend it--as well as a “fan fest” where anybody who attended could get their pictures taken on the Zamboni, see the NHL’s trophies, play bubble hockey with the players, and get autographs--I still have my Scotty Bowman, Dwight Foster, Ben Hankinson, Darren McCarty, Ray Lane, and Keith Primeau sigs, and I’m proud of that Hankinson autograph-- and there were open practices. http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hock...nt_organization But I have made plans to drive the three and a half hours to Detroit next weekend and go to Hockeytown Authentics, Cheli's Chili or Hockeytown Cafe, go to the fan fest, and if it's not great go shopping at the malls in the area or something. I figured it's Five dollars to get in so I would pay and see what it is.

Tane 17 Report post Posted August 30, 2008 In 94-95, the Wings welcomed fans back from the lockout with an open training camp--here in Detroit, so those of us who can’t afford to go to Traverse City could attend it--as well as a “fan fest” where anybody who attended could get their pictures taken on the Zamboni, see the NHL’s trophies, play bubble hockey with the players, and get autographs--I still have my Scotty Bowman, Dwight Foster, Ben Hankinson, Darren McCarty, Ray Lane, and Keith Primeau sigs, and I’m proud of that Hankinson autograph-- and there were open practices. HAHHA, Yeah, I got My Dwight Foster Autograpgh too, as well as Yan Golubovsky. lol The Players sat in the bars that are around the Joe, and you line up at one. You would pick one with say, Darren McCarty, and know it's a 2 hour wait. And maybe an hour into your wait, McCarty Leaves (cause he had been there for 3 hours) and someone replaces him. Now, that Someone might have been dwight foster, or that Someone might have Been Yzerman. I can remember getter Lapointe, Kozlov, Konstantinov, Foster, Golubovsky, Bowman, Dandenault, Lidstrom And Osgood. I had Gotten My Picture taken With Ozzie in the Penalty box and he said that he was going to stay late and Sign Autographs again. So at the end of the fest, when everything was wrapping up, Ozzie Stayed an extra 2 hours to sign for anybody that wanted an autograph. I loved Him in 93-94 when he was CAlled up, and saved us From Chevy, Riendeau and Peter Ing (Anyone remember that LA game?). He becamse My Favorite goalie That year, and becasue of that Summer, He Still is My favorite Goalie of All Time. I can't explain how happy i was for him to Come back to Detroit, and then lead them to another Cup. I'm so glad to hear that they're bringing this back, as a 10 year old, it really was the one day of the year that I looked forward to more than any other. Tane 17 Report post Posted August 30, 2008 Could you get autographs from Stevie? Back in 95, 96, 97 yes you could...all the players were there. You jsut had to be luckey enough to be at the right booth at the right time for when he switched in. Then once he would switch in, everybody would rush to get there. There were Other Red Wing Old Timers there Scotty bowman was There Signing. I would Imagine that unless Yzerman has something else pretty important going on, He'd Sit and Sign for a couple hours. Hank Dats 'N Homer 81 Report post Posted August 31, 2008 This sounds just like Tiger fest that i go to every year. You can bet that for only 5 bucks, i shall be there! Tiger fest tickets are usually about 10 bucks and they never won the world series. I cant beleive the wings are only doing this for 5 bucks after a cup win. This is amazing. RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted September 5, 2008 This is really shady on the part of the Wings. I was under the impression that a number, if not all, the Wings would be in attendance. Not only that, there is supposed to be a tour and there isn't any mention of that. I've already made plans to go with friends, and now I'm questioning if it's even worth it.
