12Newf 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 i just came across this article in the Toronto Star and Yzerman is once again talking about exploring his options a little. Personally I completely understand where the guy is coming from and wish him well as long as he doesnt go to a rival. Here's hoping he goes to Toronto. http://www.thestar.com/Sports/Hockey/article/505689
Yc172 3 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 I wouldn't mind seeing stevie go somewhere like toronto. Although i don't think he is ready quite yet, the leafs need a GM who knows what the deal is. Where ever stevie ends up, i would hope he would do a great job.
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 The Leafs already tried to hire him once and the Wings wouldn't let them talk to him.

Toronto is one of the LAST places I'd like Yzerman to go - I hate the Leafs and it would go against everything I live for to cheer for them. I bet he hangs around in Detroit until the spot opens up in Ottawa or maybe Vancouver.

I wonder how his family would like to be uprooted after living their whole lives in one place. But that's the life of a hockey guy. Can you imagine if he was able to win a Cup for Toronto? He'd be a legend on both sides of the border.

CenterIce 83 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 You never know what is going to happen. Holland has said that he would retire once Lidstrom retires. Lidstrom's contract is up in 2011, which is the same year as Yzerman's (I believe). If that holds true, Nill could become GM and Yzerman assistant GM. It is all a long way off. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) Er, yeah, Toronto may not be in the same division/conference anymore, but they are most certainly still rivals. If Stevie Y does go somewhere else I still respect that. After all these years I'm still trying to put back the money for an Yzerman jersey. Damn priorities. I respect the guy more than any other NHL player, ever. Edited September 25, 2008 by Shoreline
Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Well, it would be sad to see him go BUT he would bring class to any organization, even Toronto!
Barrie 900 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Since I live outside Toronto, I would hate it if Yzerman became the Leafs GM. I would wish him all the best and have no hard feelings, but if things go bad, I don't want to hear the Toronto media talk badly about him.

Steve Yzerman is one of the first things (or people in this example) that you think of when you think of Detroit Red Wings hockey, but if he really wants to be a GM of a professional franchise, he might have to go elsewhere down the road. That's life sometimes. There will be no hard feelings or resentment from me if he decides to work somewhere else.
