DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Zherdev looks really good for New York. He's trying harder than I am used to. Lundvquist is ballin' as usual and Mike Smith is looking solid too.

Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Redden is atrocious defensively. Very slow game so far. Kinda boring.

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 So this is Drury's second season and he is named captain? They really had no one else?
DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 So this is Drury's second season and he is named captain? They really had no one else? Either Naslund or Gomez but isn't it Gomez's 2nd season too?
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 And since Shanny's not signed, otherwise he'd be a shoo-in for the C. Is it normal for pre-season games to still be going on when the season has begun (overseas, mind you)? Don't remember that happening last season.
Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Either Naslund or Gomez but isn't it Gomez's 2nd season too? Yep, same for Gomez...I just never feel too comfortable with a guy who has been on a club for less than like 5 or 3 years being named captain.

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 I think I remember a couple pre-season games going on the same time they were plaing in the UK Okay, wasn't sure about that. It's a bit strange, but it keeps the playing field even, so to speak - players have to go over to Europe, expending all that travel time and such, so might as well make the rest of the league continue to wear themselves out with some games. toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 So this is Drury's second season and he is named captain? They really had no one else? Well, there aren't many guys on the team that have been around that long. They don't have a single player on the roster that was with the team before the lockout. toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 Zherdev looks really good for New York. He's trying harder than I am used to. For me, he's one of the most frustrating players I can think of. The guy has lots of skill, that is obvious, but he seems like the worst team player in the league. I can't think of anyone else off the top of my head. He also seems to make really bad decisions (there were many times already in this game where he just refused to make the simple play).
ArcticWing 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) Well, Rags take the lead, nifty sauce from Gomez, weak goal given up by Smith by a shot from Nasty Nas. Yep, looked a bit soft goal. It took some time even from the NASN commentators to realize there were goal. Edited October 4, 2008 by ArcticWing

Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 The hits on the boards sound louder. Because the boards are not as solid as they are in NHL arenas. Is this even a full time ice rink? I'm not so sure.
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) Because the boards are not as solid as they are in NHL arenas. Is this even a full time ice rink? I'm not so sure. I heard the ice the Pens and Sens will be playing on is absolutely terrible. I think that rink was just being built, I'm not sure why, I just think I remember reading that. Not sure about the rink for the NYR vs. TB game. Edit: I looked it up, the arena in Sweden is not new, 25 years old actually. I wonder if I just happened to see something about modifications being made for the NHL games or what....or I could just be imagining it all. ArcticWing 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2008 The hits on the boards sound louder. Commentators on NASN actually said something about position of microphones, when there was shot to a glass with a very loud sound.
