Doggy 130 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) Lol. He just got a ******* hat-trick in his first NHL game. How many times has that happened? Edited October 16, 2008 by Doggy
wingschamps 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Lol. He just got a ******* hat-trick in his first NHL game. How many times has that happened? Dallas announcers said this is the 3rd time. Didn't hear the names, but one was back in the '40s and the other in '79.
HockeytownRules19 902 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Quote from the Stars Message Boards" "Brett Hull is a God! I bet Detroit's front office is crying that they didn't get this guy. Go Stars." HAHA, yea we are crying are eyes out... Leino will still be better.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Brunnstrom wouldn't have got a game with us, that's the funny thing.
Quadnational 3 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 He looks pretty good, but the goals were "drive to the net with your stick on the ice in a crowd" type goals. Not like he deked 3 people to score. He knew in Detroit he'd end up where Leino is now, in the minors and getting called up occasionally. Looking forward to the next Wings/Stars game for sure... egroen 384 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Well that rat bastard... what a great game and way to start an NHL career. 3 even strength goals, the game winner and only the 3rd person ever to do it in a first NHL game. Now he not only has to live up to his pre-signing hype, but his first game hype
Doggy 130 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 The problem for him is, he'll be easily shut down by good defenses. Luckily, these good defenses need to worry about Richards, Morrow, Modano and Ribeiro too.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) Okay, you can't spin this any other way. This guy is good. I'm impressed. Him > Leino, sorry. Edited October 16, 2008 by Z and D for the C
redwings1914 18 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 He never would have made our roster and he had a good first game, oh well I would love to have Crosby and Ovechkin on this team but who would we compete with then?
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Dallas announcers said this is the 3rd time. Didn't hear the names, but one was back in the '40s and the other in '79. Alex Smart of the Montreal Canadiens (Jan. 14, 1943) and Real Cloutier of the Quebec Nordiques (Oct. 10, 1979) also started their careers with hat-tricks. clutchngrab 12 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Leino will prove a better player then Hudler. Mind you I expect Hudler with the line his on to put up 60+pts. on the conservative end. I think at some point we may have to decide whether to keep Hudler, Val, or Leino. I think he might be the one to keep. Babcock has never like Hudler and has already demoted him to the 3rd line and brought Sammie up. Its a no-brainer about who will be gone.
DatsyukownzU13 1 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Wow, what a start. Regardless of how the goals are scored, scoring 3 in your first NHL game is some crazy stuff. I take back what I said, this could be a huge steal haha.

rage 24 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Brunnstrom also had a 4th goal disallowed. Nice. A lot of MAJOR homer's in this thread though.
BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted October 16, 2008 Wow, insane. You know what, it is one game, but usually the guys who have big first games are the unexpected, unheard of ones. With him being a highly hyped rookie and ultimately getting a hat trick first game... I would say he's the real deal.

Datsyuk Zetterberg and Hossa too??? Thats a pretty bold statement, hence the reason why I bolded it. Unless if I'm miss-understanding you, you are saying that he is going to have a better season than Dats, Z, and Hossa? Crazy idea, but he did get a hat trick in his first NHL game. Props to him. He said he's doing better, not that he'll have a better season than any of those players. I've got to hand it to him. Brunnstrom had a hell of a debut tonight.
