Hockeytown0001 7,652 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 conklin was wonderful? since when is 0.87SV % wonderful? He kept the Wings in the game with several key saves, 2 of the goals he had no chance on. Less than 350 posts to end the game? Slow night eh guys?
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 conklin was wonderful? since when is 0.87SV % wonderful? That last goal wasn't his fault, and the first was unstoppable. He made saves in the first period that gave us a chance to take that big lead. The 2nd goal was the only bad one.
stormboy 47 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 conklin was wonderful? since when is 0.87SV % wonderful? you can't really blame him for that pinball goal...if that one doesn't go is save pct is over .910. and i think it wasn't as much about the quantity of the saves but rather the quality of many of them. he made some outstanding ones, and the goals that did go in IMO weren't really soft goals, esp. that pinball goal. another was on a well-executed odd-man rush. the tkachuck goal he probably could have had, but i also feel the d needs to to better on those behind-the-goal passes into the slot, both in terms of stopping the pass and clearing the crease. i'm not a goalie, but i imagine it'd be pretty hard to track a play when the pass is coming behind you and it's so bang-bang like that. not saying he couldn't have made the save, or that he played the game perfectly, but he did made a lot of really nice saves at key times, and kept us ahead. my opinion. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted October 23, 2008 No doubt about it that the Wings need more physical presence. Some of the liberties the Blues players were taking on Wings guys wouldn't have happened with a little bit of more enforcement from the player side.
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 I think the team played well overall. To me, the offense is looking good but D sill needs some work. They jus tare't as sharp as they should be. Why people are saying pavs needs to pick it up, I don't know, I thought he was great out there tonight. I think him and the hoss are starting to click finally. What a great goal by franzen for became the GW.

under_par_00 45 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Why doesnt Stuart fight? He is a pretty big guy, Im sure he could hold his own. Is was sort of embarassing to see him go down at the end like that.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Hudler was invisible. If you told me he was a healthy scratch tonight and I hadn't already looked at the box score, I would have believed you. I think we'll see an enforcer in the lineup soon. Zetterberg took way too much abuse tonight (particularly from Jackman) that went unanswered and there's no reason to keep a guy like Kopecky around. Samuelsson is playing really well. He had a really good game tonight on both ends of the ice. He's going to the hard areas of the ice, battling along the boards and forechecking well. I know it's a punch line by now, but he led the team in SOG and I didn't have a problem with any of the shots he took tonight. Lidstrom made some uncharacteristic mistakes tonight. Kinda weird. Kronner... well, Kronner had a bad night. Where are those monster, open ice hits, son? Conklin was huge early on. Not a great effort, but it's a win. And the Blues have been playing well, especially at home.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Agreed on Hudler, I didnt even realize he was playing tonight. And he barely played more then Maltby, maybe like 54 seconds or something. He needs to step up, or he's done with Babs.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Yeah, Hudler was just floating tonight... Man was in the center of the zone with his stick on the ice watching the puck and thinking "come on guys give it to me".... It was a slow game tonight even though 7 goals were scored... A pretty docile and slow paced game...

Despite giving up 3 goals and having a mediocre 0.875 SV%, I'd say that Conks was one of the Wings' better players tonight. Otherwise, agree totally. Sammy seems to mesh well with Mule and Z. Another thought: Dats looked good, and Hossa actually looked like he might be starting to gel with him a bit.
Wings_Rule_1010 4 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Overall, the Wings are getting better; slowly but surely. But I am slightly worried about this defense. Usually the Wings strong point, it is the weakest part of our game. I am sure it will get better, but these close games are going to give me a heart attack. CamelWing 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 I don't see how people can diss the pk as much as I'm seeing. We're still at 88% and didn't the blues have it at like 50% coming into the game? The defense hasn't been at the level it was last year in the past few games, but I don't think it's near as bad as some make it out to be.
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) Conklin is win. Datsyuk needs to step up. I grow weary of Hudler. Mule wants that raise. Homer is hilariously clutch. We don't use defensemen anymore. Stuart is being forced to play against his will. Kronwall is contemplating retiring next week. Oh, and Sammy is God. The Mule 0 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 I just got in the door now, but I was checking NHL mobile on my phone every five minutes during the concert for a score update. Nice to see the Wings win, and for Zetterberg to get on the board in his first game back. From what I've heard, this win sounded like it was a nail-biter, but two points is two points, so I won't complain. I only know for sure that it feels damn good to be back on top of the Central. GO WINGS GO!!

crotty99 302 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 How many shots against and how many turnovers were there? ..and you wonder why people say your trolling? This is an easy stat to find out if you really wanted to know. However you obviously wanted to get peoples reactions to you demanding to know these stats rather than the actual stats themselves. Guest Four Report post Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) Anyone else heart drop when they read the title on front page? I went to bed when it was 3-1 yesterday so I thought the front page said they lost 4-3 due to how they wrote it, damn mornings I think it was the "St Louis, win." part Edited October 23, 2008 by Four
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 Wings aren't "there" yet. Will lose 4- 2 Hope I am wrong but I wont be. Hossa and Datsyuk not good and Zetterberg will rusty. You heard it hear first. Really? Not from what I've seen. Hossa and Dats are starting to click. I originally thought that splitting Z and Pavs was a bad idea but now I see that Pav and Hossa are clicking. As far as Z being rusty. Well, obviously that isn't the case. Glad to see that you were wrong on both counts....
