I'll say another Wings win, 5-2. No more close games. D will tighten up.

Zetterberg (2g), Hossa, Samuelsson, Cleary gets the empty net.

The only reason we'll win is because VladiBELIEVE16 wore her RED game-day thong...

Grind Line reunited for tonight's game

by Ansar Khan

Monday October 27, 2008, 3:05 PM

Update from the morning skate at the Staples Center in Los Angeles: Johan Franzen's knee injury has led to the reunion of The Grind Line, as coach Mike Babcock plans to use Kris Draper with Kirk Maltby and Darren McCarty, a unit that was first formed during the 1996-97 season and last played together for one shift on March 28 vs. St. Louis, when the trio started the game.

"Grinding. I expect them to be good,'' Babcock said. "We need four lines competing and working hard and being energized and making a contribution. The way you play and the minutes and the wear and tear on the opposition is important.''

Dan Cleary fills Franzen's spot on the line with Henrik Zetterberg and Mikael Samuelsson. Cleary also will provide the net-front presence on the second power-play unit, with Zetterberg and Jiri Hudler up front.

The Wings still have not recalled Ville Leino from Grand Rapids, as they want to see how Franzen's knee reacts in the next day or two.

"We better figure out how long he's going to be out before we put him on long-term (injured reserve, which would cost him 10 games,'' Babcock said. "Near the end (of his time out), if you want to go retroactive, that's different. If Mule's ready after five, why wouldn't we have him? So right now (the roster) is what it is.''

Somebody asked Tomas Holmstrom if he had spoken to Franzen.

"I called him, but he never answers his phone,'' Holmstrom said. "He doesn't even know his own number.''

Chris Osgood, as you would expect, will start in goal tonight.

Was there. What great response he got (even during the warm-up skate) and what fun to see them START the game!!!

I'd love to see a blowout, just to get some more confidence, but these games never go how we predict, so it'll probably be 3-2, whoever wins.

It'd be really nice to have a Wing (Hossa!) get a hatrick, or Datsyuk to score one of his amazing superhuman goals. We haven't seen one of those in a while and it'd be nice to see it again.

Oh, and an Ozzie shutout would be nice.

Only game streamed on hockey webcasts tonight.

use www.hockeystreams.com instead. you have to do a quick sign up but its pretty reliable, it runs through media player. it will tell you that you need to pay but just sign up for the free one and then select your game on the right side. then it tells you something about needing to make a donation but just the little link in that message that says click here or something and it will load.

sorry if this sounds confusing but the site works pretty well.

It's a long road trip, so all I'd hope for is to play well and get a 'W'.

What would call the dangle he put on Khabi in the third period on Saturday?

Big game... I'm starting to get used to these online streams - and I'm actually beginning to enjoy them too.

Wings will bring this one home. Big game for the goaltender and that is as far as I will go.

Really excited about tonight's game. Our #1 line, Hossa-Dats-Hommer, seems good for 2 goals a game so far. At the beginning of the season I wasn't liking Hossa to much. Boy, has he ever been getting comfortable with Datsyuk! After watching them play Atlanta and the Hawks...Hossa's freak'n awesome! I'll never forget that shootout goal against the Hawks...priceless.

According to the website, the free version doesn't allow streaming video, just use of the forums.

Almost 3 hours to game time. I guess i better dig my jersey out and get ready to make the drive out to LA. Nothing like driving 35 miles and it taking an hour and a half. My Wings are worth it though!
