YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 The Wings and Sharks aren't the two best teams in the West. The Wild and Sharks are. The crazy thing is, the Wings are still probably #3. Is it just me or does the whole league seem weaker this year?
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 I kind of feel a Red Wings onslaught coming. They're going to come out of the gate gunning for San Jose. We've seen this scene before, call me an optimist but I think that terrible first is going to energize the guys.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Sarcasim. The fans were booing a lot because the refs were getting in the way. No need to analyze everyone's posts. Sarcasm. /end analysis.

After years of dominating teams and losing, for it to be switched would be funny in a way.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 i think nabokov is overrated if we get some more shots its going to be goals a plenty
Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 If this team would just put some MUSTARD on its passes and clearing attempts, the turnovers would be cut by half. They're fancy-tapping it around like it's practice, not gametime.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 How many times have other teams` goalies stolen games from us? Well, tonight Conklin is doing that for us. You're just far too used to it being the other way around. Relax. Wait....so you're criticizing me for.....praising Conklin? Dude, lay off.
reppintealtown 3 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Why all the doom and gloom, my friends? The Wings fans I remember are a confident bunch. It's too early in the season to give it up. Plus, your boys did play a tough game last night and didn't get into SJ until 2:30 this morning. Come on Wings fans, keep the faith in your boys.
egroen 384 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Wings still can't stay out of the box again... oh wait, they actually have not received a single penalty, it just looks like they have been a man down the entire period. Great.

Guest MrSandMan Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Lets thank Conklin for showing up. He's probably the only Wing out there wanting the "W"
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) First period thoughts: - The Wings are very, very lucky that this is still 0-0. Conklin has bailed them out numerous times. They are still hanging around, though. That's a victory in itself after that period. - Our fourth line looks exceptionally rough, especially when it's out on the ice with Lilja/Lebda. That is not a good five-man rotation to throw out on the ice. They had two shifts in which they literally could not make one decent play. - I think Babcock should consider breaking up Lidstrom/Rafalski, and sticking each one of them with Lilja and Lebda. Our entire defensive corps is out of sync, and something needs to shake them up. When Chelios is healthy, I think he's going to find himself with a permanent spot on the roster. - The power play looked good, but that was literally the only offense the Wings produced. And, for the love of God, get Samuelsson off the PP. He does not deserve to be out there. I am so sick of seeing his weak shots from the point and lazy play along the boards. - Um, it's still tied? Here's to a better next 40 minutes. Edited October 31, 2008 by RedWingsFanatic
SuperNovaXll 124 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Our passes coming out of the zone have been horrible so far this season. Not sure what the difference is from last year to this one. Hopefully its just the cup hangover deal. Ah...Maybe when Chelios comes back things will turn around! hehehehe
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 This interview is hilarious. I can just picture Datsyuk illegally downloading TV episodes.
Reilly 24 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 People. We're 11 games into the season and this team hasn't looked good in any of those games. If it's too early to push the panic button, how many more games do we need to see then?
robat 13 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Why? Because I'm realistic? I love my team, but AT THIS POINT we just don't defensively look like a Stanley Cup team. Big difference between pipe dream and realism..... Things could change though.. You and mindfly should start the official LGW realist club.

umredwing11 2 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) Why has "bitter" become such a buzzword these days...and one that people rarely use right at that. No one is bitter. Frustrated might apply though. Sarcasm. /end analysis. Are you an English professor/teacher/educator of some sort? Your critiquing of the same person is quite evident and rather annoying. Or maybe I just find it annoying because my feelings from the game are transferring over to this thread. Who knows? I guess I should just be thankful that we got out of that one tied...looking forward to bigger and better things in the next to periods. /end analysis hehe Edited October 31, 2008 by umredwing11
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Keep in mind, folks, that at some points last season the Wings would never have won the Cup. But they did, because they got their stuff together. In fact, they got it together Game 1 of the Playoffs. So I'm not worrying until Game 4 of Round 1 if they're down 3-0.
RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 good post. Thank you, good man. That piece with the guys talking about technology was pretty funny. I really want Pavel Datsyuk to have a variety hour in which he talks about his favorite TV shows and his time at the Rahmani Eye Institute.

Hatchet Barry 71 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Conklin looks real sharp tonight. Especially on that save (I forget who took the shot) when Lilja gave the puck away right in the middle. Lebda and Lija together on defence is a poison. It's hard to watch. Something needs to be done ASAP. Wings look tired from last nights game. Hopefully they shake it off and take control in the second and third periods. Lets Go Wings!

Here's to a better next 40 minutes. Kronwall and Stuart haven't looked too hot together either. Thats why Im a little disappointed in Babs. The defense has simply not been clicking yet the pairs have remained the same. It took 2 games for Babs to adjust the offense.
