RainingBlood 8 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Just out of my own curiosity, why exactly should Lebda keep playing? I don't think it's "s*** talkin" if it's true. Lebda is playing bad but why Is Lilja still playing. So he can make a nasty smirk at someone, have maybe 1 fight a year and give the puck away like he did last night. That play was a carbon copy of the turn over he did with Selanne. Differance is Selanne scored. If I was the redwings. When they go to phoenix take him to a sip and gulp, tell him to get a bunch of icee's and when he goes in drive off.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Even Uwe Krupp is better than Lebda!!!
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Even Uwe Krupp is better than Lebda!!! Absolutely. Uwe only played 32 games of his 4 year contract. We need that kind of showing from Lebda. I can probably stomach an average of 8 games of Lebda a year.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Schneider still has him beat at -10... Nice try. Try to make Matty look bad and Lebda look good. But Schnieds plays for Atlanta (29th in the NHL) and Lebda plays for Detroit (3rd in the NHL). Add in Schnieder plays near 20 minutes a night and Lebda plays close to 11, and then this argument is done. There's no excuse for being -9 as a 6th defenceman. OK, you picked out two bad plays that Lilja has made. I wish I could only come up with two bad plays from Lebda in a single game. You forgot to mention that Lilja kills penalties, is a good shot blocker, and is pretty solid defensively, which are all things Brett Lebda is not. For a 5th defenseman, Andreas Lilja is perfectly fine. In fact, Lilja has been better than both Kronwall and Stuart this season, so should we drop them off in Phoenix too? The whole Red Wings team is coughing up the puck like crazy. You singled out one mistake from Lilja, but overlooked all of the positive attributes Lilja provides. Here's what Brett Lebda is good at ... being fast. Lebda is the problem, not Lilja. Edited November 1, 2008 by GoWings1905

Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Lebda and Lilja are both playing s***ty. Lilja hasnt been much better at all than Lebda, and atleast Lebda can get the puck deep (granted and accomplish nothing, but still)
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Theres no way hes better than Kronner, Kronner has been our best dman so far. Kronner had one very good game (Chicago). Other than that, I don't think Kronwall has played that well compared to what we watched in the playoffs. Both Kronwall and Stuart have completely lacked any physical play, which is what makes them such an ideal defense pairing. I will stand by that Lilja has been just as good defensively as anyone else on the team to this point.

But kronwall has been sound defensively and he's forcing guys to keep thier heads up, watch when the other team crosses through the neutral zone when these two are on the ice. Stuart has had a few big hits too but the rest of his game is so so right now.
