hckypete96 3 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Ok I think that a roster shakeup is necessary to get the wings out of this little funk. We all know that despite their record, they're still playing like s*** defensively. Babcock, please bring up Ericsson. He's ready for the NHL and I think a shakeup in the lineup would help greatly. Also, give Leino a shot already!
uk_redwing 495 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Send down Lebda and Meech (for when Old Man comes back), bring up Ericsson. Send Kopecky down, bring up Downey!!

Blood On The Ice 15 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Trade Sammy & Malts. Send down Lebs. Bring up Leino, Helm and Ericsson. And figure out a way to bring up Howard for a game or two. Start Howard instead of Ozzie. Its obvious that Ozzie excels when he has to compete for playing time, like last year. This year, no compitition, the job has been his. Coyote0106 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Griffins called up a defenceman from Las Vegas. Downey didn't play on Tuesday and it rumored to have been put on waivers again. Change might be in the works.
zetterbergfan 23 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Swapping out 6th defensemen is not exactly a "roster shakeup". A roster shake-up should look more like this Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Hossa-Franzen-Hudler Cleary-Filppula-Samuelsson Maltby-Draper-Kopecky McCarty Lidstrom-Kronwall Rafalski-Stuart Lilja-Meech I really would like to re-unite Pavel and Hank. They are a strong defensive pairing as well as a top scoring unit. You don't lose anything with Hossa to the second line with Franzen and Hudler and might get better chemistry. I wish I could get Maltby out of the lineup and replace him with Lieno, Helm, Abdelkader...but I can't. Shake up the D a little two...solidify it by pairing a hitter with a playmaker on each pair. Slave 31 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 clone zetterberg 11 times... seriously though, did you guys notice how often sammy was on the ice in certain situations...ie pens score....sammy goes out next shift, 2 minutes left ine game..sammy is on the ice. just seemed to me like he was out there quite a bit when i as a coach would have loked more to my proven defensively strong guys
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 We don't need to put ZDH back together FFS, our problem isn't offense, it's defense. I'd bring downey up, put Nick with Nik And Rafski with Stu. Lilja and Ericsson would be nice if we could make the move but I don't think we can. Lidstrom Kronwall rafalski Stuart Lilja meech/ericsson

Their line is contantly doing things and they're our vest line every game by far. They're awesome. You'd lose a LOT but putting him with Franzen and hudler. Wrong...the chemistry between Hossa and Datsyuk is not the same as it was between Zetterberg and Datsyuk, especially defensively. Second...Z has not found chemistry with the second line. Hossa might. Now you have two lines with chemistry vice one...
Guest mindfly Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Ultimate D pairings would be: Lidstöm-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Chelios IMO

lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 I'm not sure chemistry is the problem when we keep blowing leads because there has to be some chemistry going in order to get the lead in the first place ... we just don't seem very good with a lead, particularly defensively. Maybe the key is to avoid getting leads too early ... we could bench the top 2 lines and double-shift the 3rd and 4th lines for the whole 1st period, then spend the rest of the game catching up
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 I'm not too sure on what to do, however, I noticed lastnight that we simply did not finish!! When we went up 5-2 we simply quit!! All 19 of the players quit!! They though that they had that game in the bag!! and when they noticed they had to start playing again the Wings simply could not turn it on again!! I would like to see Ericsson and Leino as well as Helm back, they have that spark that I think we need right now. Lets face it Lebda and Lilja simply don't have it on Defense, they are always out of position, Liljas defensive zone turnovers lead to 2 Pittsburgh goals late in the third lastnight.!! It also seems like Lidstrom and Raffy are a bit tired!! They don't seem to be playing like they did last year, but we all know that won't last long!!
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 (edited) They need to be grounded. Someone or something must remind them what it takes to win. 2probert4 8 Report post Posted November 12, 2008 Send down Lebda and Meech (for when Old Man comes back), bring up Ericsson. Send Kopecky down, bring up Downey!! Kopecky, Lebda, and Meech all would have to pass through waivers, as the case was with Quincey. McCarty has a 2 way deal but I doubt if anyone would pick him up.
