BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted November 18, 2008 Okay, like every season, there are a few unexpected players off to fascinating starts, but every year the exact same players wind up as the top scorers. Who of the following players will continue their pace throughout the entire season? Alexander Semin Devin Setoguchi Patrick Marleau Zach Parise JP Dumont Andy McDonald Shea Weber Brian Little Ales Hemsky Derrick Brassard Matt Stajan These are all players that round up the top 30 in league scoring... Do you expect consistancy throughout these players? The only ones I expect it from really is Semin and Parise.
AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted November 18, 2008 I think MacDonald's season is about to take a downturn.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted November 18, 2008 Setoguchi is playing with Thornton and Semin is playing with OV so those two would be my prediction !!
Gutierrez 7 Report post Posted November 18, 2008 (edited) I think Parise is the real deal and will continue to keep it up. Everyone else is benefiting from playing with other great players Edited November 18, 2008 by Gutierrez
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 18, 2008 Shea Weber finishes top 10 in defense scoring. Calling that one. I think Little and Dumont will fizzle out, the rest I could see staying where they are, or still having good seasons. McDonald is done for 2 months now, so that might hurt. stormboy 47 Report post Posted November 18, 2008 Alexander Semin Devin Setoguchi Patrick Marleau Zach Parise JP Dumont Andy McDonald Shea Weber Brian Little Ales Hemsky Derrick Brassard Matt Stajan IMO, most probably won't. semin won't keep up his current torrid pace, but if he stays with ovie and backstrom i think he could do very well this year (though he was still putting up good numbers with different linemates as well). setoguchi is off to a great start, already netting more point than he got last year. i could potentially see him being the real deal. dumont, though, will probably never be much more than a 70-ish point player. feel the same way about hemsky. i expect stajan's hot streak to come to a grinding halt. just on this good start he'll probably get a career-high point total this year, but i don't think it'll be much more than in recent years. Ales is pretty damn good. Pavel minus the confidence = Hemsky

Semin has actually played most of the year on a different line than Ovechkin. I think it was only the last couple games that they were put together. Putting those them together has jump started Ovechkin's game, but Semin was already way up there in pts before they were put together. I think he's injured now, but just day to day, not sure. I think the guy will keep scoring goals and points, but it's doubtful that he'll keep the pace he's at.
