Huh? When did I say they arent trying? They are trying, but not as hard as they have been. Zetterberg has been giving out so much effort lately, but we're talking about over the course of 21 games. You expect the guys with the As on their chest to lead your team in terms of effort.

Well, you just said that the effort hadn't been there. I took that to mean a lack of trying.

I agree with what you're saying, though. Our top guys need to be our top guys, and it would be nice if Hossa was more consistent. Still, he, Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Franzen have been really good. Having Holmstrom out certainly messes up some things. Having Franzen out with an injury didn't make things any easier.

So, yeah, they can be better. But they still deserve a lot of credit.

Those are the only Dmen you know of? You're right about Niedermayer - but then again, Niedermayer was going down hill last season when Schneids was outplaying him. But Weber has been awesome, so have Keith and Markov, and Boyle has fit in ridiculously well with the Sharks. You really have to have the blinders on to call Lidstrom a Norris worthy candidate right now.

Boyle should already have 40 pts on the season on that team, he is def underachieving, kieth and markov both will slow down, whereas nick will only get better and better

We can't even beat the crawling Habs in 3 games this season (including 2 off season games), the building is half empty and their fans are louder than our.

Kopay has been playing some great hockey in the last couple weeks. He deserves to be rewarded for it. Fair is fair. Flip isn't doing a damn thing, and I love Fil but he hasn't impressed me at all thus far this season.

Huh? What has Kopay been doing thats so great? He has 3 points in 21 games. 1 point in his last 5 games. Filppula has 2 points in his last 5 games, and 3x what Kopecky has on the season.

Also, if players are rewarded for play, how come Hudler can get 3 points in one game and still only see 8 minutes of 30 seconds of playing time? Bulls***. There are about 9 players up front playing better hockey than Kopecky and yet hes playing ahead of 9.

Well we didn't show up tonight and thats all there is to it, Conkquerer was good, i feel bad for him because the team didn't play with the effort he did between the pipes. Im already looking ahead to friday were the team should but forth a complete effort. 82 game season, sometimes we just don't show up tonight was one of those nights.

I never said they weren't "trying." I said they (along with everyone else) haven't been impressive.

Impressive, to me, is their play from last season. The defense, the PK, the passing, everything. Nothing is there this season. Which is why I want them back together with Holmstrom.

I think it's tough to really analyze things, especially who should be playing together, when Franzen and Holmstrom have both been out for stretches with injuries. If we can get everybody healthy, I think a certain rhythm will develop, much like it did once Hossa/Datsyuk/Holmstrom played together for an extended period of time.

I think Zetterberg and Franzen need somebody other than Samuelsson playing with them (i.e. Hudler).

Lidstrom isnt playing Norris caliber defense. You should orient yourself with a few more defenseman in the league. Theres a changing of the guard going on out there, and there are some good younger Dmen that are just hitting their stride. Lidstrom isnt even top 5 right now. He might not even be top 10 with the way hes playing.

I'll make a good example here with this.

Plus/Minus rating.

Lids is currently tied for 23rd among defensemen with a +5. That's gotta be significant. Next closest Wings defenseman? Andreas Lilja. Tied for 47th among defensemen (with Pronger, among others) with a +3.

Theres something outside of offensive stats. Its called defense.

At any rate, yeah. Its Nick Lidstrom. Who also happens to be halfway through the year towards the big 39.

People get old. Believe it or not, it happens to hockey players too. Maybe you've forgotten, but Chelios' play went downhill pretty fast too after being nominating for the Norris for the last time.
