Conklin with a bunch of huge saves, but the D does nothing to stop it from going in.

..You mean besides Lidstrom poking his stick top shelf glove side and probably getting a piece of the biscuit and changing the pucks course.

I hate to bring it up, because he's still great and legendary and all of that, but Nick Lidstrom has been far from spectacular so far this season and that last goal just magnifies it. He's looks slow and he's been caught standing around quite a bit. I still think he's one of the best players in the league, but it does seem that his play has fallen off a bit this season.

I brought this up in another thread, but it bears repeating.

For the average NHL defenseman, Lids has been just fine.

For a six-time Norris trophy-winning defenseman, he's been, at times, god awful.

Lidstrom got lucky. The fact he has to stick his in the net to stop a goal says a lot about what lead up to that play.

....and the Habs get cheered.

I'd agree if the rest of the team have been playing well, but they haven't.

Fact: Not one Red Wings player has been impressive this season.

Well, game over. Wings showed some signs at the beginning and end, but overall this game they were dominated.

Time to regroup and focus on playing 60 minutes.

Right.

In order for the Wings to be as successful as they were last season, they need Nick Lidstrom to be Nick Lidstrom. The defense has just been too shaky so far for him to be anything but on the top of his game. I'm certainly willing to give him a few off nights, but a quarter of the way into the season, he's been an average defenseman. I think Brad Stuart has been far better.

Okay, we'll take Lidstrom off your hands for Nycholat and a 4th round pick. :sly:
