You can't trade 2 high talent, high skill stars of a team for one player, especially those two, without creating riots and an uproar from the fans. I wouldn't trade anyone on the Wings that would be able to get a guy at Getzlaf's level.

Alright I get it. This is a public forum and anything can be posted. That is unfortunate really because this absolutely has to be the worst topic started in the history of LGW. Flippin Datsyuk and flippin Zetterburg for Geztlaf? What the hell is going on?

I am pretty sure that the OP was saying one of Dats or Z for Geztlaf, not both.

Of the other big name NHL players, the only ones I can really see thriving on the Wings are Thornton, Alfie, and Lecavalier. Guys like Ovechkin, Crosby, and Malkin wouldn't post nearly as good of numbers playing 1-2 minutes fewer PER GAME on the PP and having a leading commitment to offense - that just doesn't work on the Wings and they'd probably pull a Fedorov and ***** constantly about only getting 22 minutes of playing time per game.

And with Thornton, Alfie, and Lecavalier, I don't see any of them as an upgrade over Zetterberg or Datsyuk, so what would be the point?

I would seek no trade. I would listen to all offers.

I doubt somebody could offer me the talent comprable, as well as reimbersuing me for trading a home grown talent, but hey, talk away.

but aye i would not trade either of them for anyone, there are a lot of good players out there but i do not think any of them bleed redwing red like these guys do they are not only superstars but also the leaders and the heart of this team, also the future, they know the system, they have boughten into the system and they are the system, when hossa goes next year babs will reunite dats and hank and they will one again be the top line in the league

Either for Crosby straight up. Leaning towards Datsyuk. The defensive gap is closing. Age.

Either for Ovechkin straight up. Too amazing of an offensive talent to refuse. Age.

Any others would be very hard to justify but I could consider Kovalchuk, Getzlaf, Iginla, Malkin and Kane.

As much as I hate to say this, but I agree.
