I don't know if it's the complaining of the complainers that makes me want to complain....at the risk of sounding like a whiner in a complaint based thread, I'd like to prop up the proposition that too many threads are hijacked by complaining about a complaint that has nothing at all to do with the ORIGINAL complaint. I think there would be less to complain about if complainers would stay on topic and give us all something to whine about.

Let me get this straight...

You guys are complaining about a team that is 18-4-4 and has won 4 of their last 5?

I'd hate to see what you guys are talking about when down the road if the Wings need to rebuild for three, four, five seasons and GASP...miss the playoffs a few times.

It's obvious none of you were around to watch the Wings in the 70's and 80's.

Bunch of spoiled ............

I'm still around.

Once the Blues get back to the point where they can challenge the Wings for the division again, maybe I'll poke around in here a bit more. There's just not much to talk about right now as far as the Blues vs. Wings goes. It's odd though...the Blues have actually played much better vs. Detroit than they did when they were good a few years ago...St. Louis has been splitting or winning the season series' now. So maybe I should be in here stirring stuff up a bit more.

I'm just glad the Blues are on the right track. They have some great young players (Berglund, E.J., Oshie, Perron, Pietrangelo). That's a great core to build around. And I like the fact that John Davidson is pulling the strings. They are still a few years away from contending for a cup, but if things keep going the way they do, if they can get the goaltending, if they sign that key free agent or two in the coming offseasons to fill in the gaps, and if they can get rid of Brewer....they'll be in good shape.

I just don't get some people pissed off that the Wings are "only" 18-4-4. I mean, I understand why I hate it....but Wings fans?

To those bitching...that's an amazing record...don't act like a spoiled *****.

I'd gladly switch the Blues record with the Wings record...any takers?

Enough with the "its only december" mantra. Its now 1/3 of the way through the season and the Wings are still shipping way, way, way too many goals. Don't tell me December doesn't matter because the last 2 seasons Babcock has had this team playing Playoff Hockey from September, and our post-season success the last 2 years has been no coincidence.

I was not one little bit surprised when we steamrolled our way to the cup because we had been playing like that ALL YEAR. Can you honestly say that our current level of goaltending, defence and effort will cut it in April (who knows if we'll make it May)?

I usually stay quiet, posting stuff that doesn't really matter, but after reading some of the most recent discussion, I am regretting my decision to join these boards in the first place. I understand that the Wings haven't been playing as they were last April, but this is December, last time i checked, April is still four months away. The Wings are still winning with sub-par efforts, and at this time, it doesn't bother me on bit. If they are playing this way at the end of February, then I will start to worry, but until then, they're winning, so who cares. I am not trying to say the Wings are playing how they should be, but I think when the time comes, they will come to play. The panic I have seen on these boards is a little extreme, but isn't entirely wrong, its just a little to soon. In a month or two, then fine, but calm down until then. Babcock and Ken know what they're doing, and will make any changes they think is necessary. I remember the last trade deadline, and after we only got Stuart, some people didn't think we would get to the finals, and then we won the cup, so if you still think Babcock and Holland don't know what they're doing, and you think can do a better job than them, please go tell them what you think they should do, instead of complaining about to people who can't do anything about it.

thats the beauty of it... you are assuming the current play will be the play in April.. I am assuming the other way :)

So i say wait until april and you will be surprised.. Usually a large group always say "ZOMFG we will be ousted in the first round" <-- see threads last season and more often then not that is not the case come actual playoff time. which could carry now a lot more weight than saying it now standing at 18-4-4... 4-18-4 or 4-4-18 might make the OMG we are doomed posts a little less (how do you say it in english?) dumb.

They have been there done that with the championships... they are professionals with more success than many others in the sport. they know what it takes to win

It is frustrating and difficult to read these things sometimes. Conversely, I find almost equally annoying the condescending never-be-critical crowed when posts don't even come close to suggesting freaking out or panicing. I hate both extremes. I also hate the know-it-all crowd, but that's a discussion for another place/time, if ever.

Both sides of the extreme, the nutjob whiners and spoiled brats in whatever topic it may be as well as the 500% positivity police who grill you for being slightly critical need to tone it down a few notches sometimes. I hope that some people know who they are regarding these extremes and that they fit into them very well.

Yup. Agree 100%.

My rule of thumb is that I treat each thread like I treat a television channel or a radio station: If I don't like it, I don't watch/listen/read. Just because someone gets their panties in a knot over something doesn't mean that you have to.

If you don't like the nature of the thread, then don't read or post in it.

We will complain right up until we have lost, in which case we will console each other; or until we have won, in which case we will cheer rabidly as though nothing was ever amiss.

We have members here from Northern Canada to Australia.

It stands to reason that, as a group, we're bi-polar.
