trade hudler NOW

Like I said i love Hudler... just dont wanna see us lose him for nothing...

As you mentioned in another post, he's an RFA ... unless I'm mistaken, doesn't that mean we would get compensation if another team takes him?

I know huds has been great and all... and I like him a lot... but I think the smartest thing to do would be to trade him now. He ridic. hot and his value will never be higher than it is right now. We aren't going to have the money to re-sign him next year... and Babs doesnt like him. He won't even play him on top 2 lines besides like 5 games at the beginning of the year. I say trade him now... for a goalie. Maybe something like Huds+Cleary for Vokoun. I know he's struggling but he's still a top 10 goalie IMO and anderson is playing great. Maybe even Huds for Roloson? Fernandez? What do u guys think? Like I said i love Hudler... just dont wanna see us lose him for nothing... ecspecially when our D/goaltending is struggling.

edit: wasn't aware of how much Vokoun made... i guess we'd have to throw flip in there too.....

im glad fans don't make the decisions...idiots!

The ONLY reason that even makes me think a Hudler trade is possible is that Babcock doesn't seem to like him.

Other than that, who are you going to get in his place that is going to be any more reliable? Hudler is showing he's coming into his own and is putting up ridiculous stats for himself. He's finally developed and is showing what he's worth, and we need to keep him.

The only players we should even think about letting go at the end of this season or deadline are:

Kopecky

Lebda

Sammy (but only for a good defensive forward, because he's had a much better season than usual and I don't dislike him so much)

Filpulla

And none of those, except for maybe Filpulla, would get us anything of value, unfortunately.

Ok, hear me out before you all say no, buttt

Hossa, Z, Dats, Franzen and Ozzy for Roberto Luongo, I know you will all say 'but shaman he is t3h injured lol' but with him on the wing's IR they will have space to bring up all those great AHL players everyone loves. So its win win win.

how can u say hudler wont deman much money? he's RFA and is currently 4th on the team in points. he only makes 1mil right now... why wouldnt he ask for 3ish? He could easily get higher than that on the open market with the outrageous contracts teams throw at halfway decent players nowadays...

So he's 4th on the team in points, but somehow isn't valuable to the team??

And he's an RFA, so we're not talking about the open market. Best a team could do is make an offer sheet. If the Wings didn't match, they'd be compensated with picks.

how isnt it? 4th on the team in scoring... vokoun is struggling and isnt even starting right now.... seems like a win win if we could free up the cap space.

Again, so the guy who's 4th on the team in scoring somehow isn't valuable, so we should trade him for a goalie who's struggling and has a cap hit of $5.7 mill, to replace our goalie who is struggling and has a cap hit of 1.4 mill?

So Hudler and Ozzy (who I guess we'd have to waive or something) totals $2.5 million. where's the other $3.2 mill in cap space going to come from?

Do you not see some serious problems with your logic here? Unless you were joking and I missed your sarcasm, because of threads like this one.

We wouldn't need to do all of them, Hossa and Ozzy would cover it, and through Franzen in there to sweeten the deal, that way we still have Dats and Z

I disagree. Huds trade value is far less then his actual value to the team. I am not sure wether or not Babs dislikes him and i think that does not hold enough water. Hudler is a great player and will never demand much money. I say that Hudler is worth keeping almost souly on his value in the locker room. Bottom line is if you wish to get a good goalie with Hudler it won't happen. Noone will trade someone that can contribute to this team like he does.

Trade value > Team Value

I am not saying your stupid or anything but your logic rivals a crazy persons! LOL

I agree, but following your agrument, shouldn't your ">" be a "<"?

As someone said, it's a good thing fans don't make the trades. At least with some trade proposals on this site there is a modicum of logic involved. There is nothing of the sort here. While we may lose Huddles in the offseason, trading him now would be a poor move.

And anyone who brings up trading Cleary forgets that fact that he has a no trade clause until 2012. He isn't going anywhere.

Hank and Pav for Vokoun would be a much better trade.

WOW! I was thinking the exact same thing!! I mean Vokoun would be the reason why we never won in the past and he would be the missing piece we were looking for all these years!! LOOK!! I am pissed off just as any Wings fan about our GAA and our struggling defense this year. But this is a "team" problem. You don't think other teams would love to have "our problem" right now? The defending Stanley Cup champs and we are sitting 20-5-4 right now.The defense needs to shape up as does our goal tending but this is the "HANGOVER" everyone was talking about.Having a bullseye on your back all year and being ready to play a full 60 minutes of hockey EVERY night.I think we're going to be fine honestly. If we can't win with the roster we have, which is probably the BEST in the league than we just weren't meant to win.

That's some strange logic there. We can't keep him next year so lets get rid of him now so we lose him for the remaining 2/3's of this year also.

There isn't an top 10 goalie in the league that makes what Rex is making.

Not sure why you want Voukoun. His save percentage is 18th in the league. Granted that's better than Ozzie's but Hudler and Flip for Voukoun, ah, no thanks
