Lids and Dats made it

here are the rest

yes i know Hossa should be there but they need people from every team. Oh and good thing they didn't ask Hank because he never plays anyways

Actually, it kind of sucks that Z is finally healthy to play, but hasn't had a good enough season to be voted in.

:lol::lol:

It's funny how they tried to justify those s***ty Montreal players making it in, by showing their stats from last year. That just makes people from Montreal look that much more stupid for voting their *** heroes in.

Oh, and how does Souray make it in, but Lilja (who handed Souray his lunch) doesn't? Disgraceful move by the league if you ask me.

Luongo playing? Komisarek, Markov, and Kovalev starting? More ugly looking things on that page...

The starting line-up should be voted after the all stars are named by the GMs are whatever. It should be, the official all stars are placed on a page and fans vote for the official all stars, not a bunch of random players.

Though I am tickled that Nick and Pasha are going I really have to question a couple of the choices. One, Keith Tchacuk (sorry I can't spell)...a minus 11, and he gets the nod over Brad Boyes??? Two, Dustin Brown...minus 7. Three, Milan Hejduk...minus six. Really, I know you want to get every team represented, but come on, surely there are better than these three guys.

As to no Dion Phaneuf, I won't miss him.

The voting is a complete joke. Just think, next year there won't be a joke like this year (Olympics).

I think each team picks 3 or 4 people from the front office (Yzerman, Holland, Devellano etc) to vote for the All Stars. They each pick 6 forwards, 4 defensemen and 2 goalies (for each conference). They can't choose a player on their team. The players with the most votes are the starters. To go even further, give the coaches and assistant coaches votes to, that way, there are more votes and less of a chance for a tie. Do this after the New Year, that way, nearly all teams have played 1/2 a season.

Also, do away with the "every team needs a rep". If your team sucks, you don't deserve a rep.

TBH, the fact that the league requires atleast one player from each club to make the All-Star team so that all the NHL clubs are represented further illustrates that this is not a true *All-Star* game. If it was (as someone mentioned), AP writers or GM's would vote players in with no restrictions such as (a) atleast one player from every team has to make it or (b) the bulk of the team can come from only a few teams if its deservedly so.

With the way the ASG is run now, if people don't see how pointless this game is....they never will.

San Jose and Detroit are the only teams which have "extra" players, in that they had multiple players selected as reserves. While I might pick Hossa or Z over Thornton and might pick Rafalski over Boyle, two from each is probably fair.

Considering Z's history with his back, I'd much rather prefer he rest.

Also I actually like the idea of having a representative for each team even if its just a ploy to maximize viewership by having a recognizable face on the team no matter how cloistered the viewer or which market they stem from. However, with the joke that is unlimited online/cellphone fan balloting for the starting line up getting undeserved players spots on the team on top of this notion, they are really watering down the talent in this game and damaging already waning interest in to what is essentially a meaningless game.

I don't agree with the notion that the voting is a joke. Every fan has the same opportunity to vote for their favorite player and clearly the Penguins, Habs, Ducks, and Hawks were more organized in their grassroots efforts to stack the line-up. We could have done it if we'd wanted to.

It's not like those starting lines are full of terrible players. And honestly anyone from our team would be boring at the ASG because they don't think "individual" like someone like AO. They think "team" and that makes them boring in things like skills competitions. Kane, Toews, and Getzlaf are great players and will probably have instant chemistry.

I also agree with trying to get every team represented. It's responsible PR, and as frustrated as many Wings fans are that Hossa or Zetterberg are missing, imagine how the Kings fans would feel if their highly skilled and exciting captain was shunned.

Even with all that pro-establishment rhetoric, I've found the ASG to be pretty boring, but I like the player interaction with the media. I enjoy watching people enjoy themselves I guess.

On Lidstrom:

His coach, Mike Babcock, believes the six-time Norris winner is the best player in the League.

This made me chuckle. It sounds to me like one of those "my mom says I'm special!" quotes. Of course, I happen to agree with Mr. Babcock, but that's a different topic.

Glad to see some common sense was used in the addition of the Detroit players.

Maybe it is time for the League to borrow/steal/re-invent the idea used in Major League Baseball: the Conference that wins the All-Star Game also gets home-ice advantage in the Stanley Cup Final.

The answer is no. I hate that MLB does this. The ASG should be a completely meaningless exhibition game, not something that has any real-time consequences.

No, absolutely not. If the Wings go to the FInals, but didn't have any reps at the ASG, and the West loses, Detroit is screwed? That doesn't make any sense.
