SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 Sports journalists always make wild claims hoping that if they're wrong people will forget it about, and if they're right rub it in other people's faces. That's part of their job. I love writers who are 100% honest and just try to stick to news and the facts, but in my opinion it is hard as a journalist to do just this and you need to write like you are coming out of left field sometimes in order to get attention to your writing. Sometimes you are right, sometimes you are wrong. This guy was incorrect with his guesses but as has been pointed out already, with the amount of flipping out the fans in here do and turning they would do whenever the Wings struggle or hit some adversity, I wouldn't go too far in calling this journalist out. Barrie 900 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 There's ways for sports writers to say things without looking like a tool. Simple things like, "Is this the end of the Red Wings run?" and state reason why are a lot safer, instead of making things sound like fact only a few weeks into a season. The most interesting thing to me about the article was: Well, while all is well and good with his Tigers, such is not nearly the case for the NHL club he owns, the Detroit Red Wings. Not only was he wrong about the Wings, he was wrong about the Tigers.

The Secret 304 Report post Posted January 12, 2009 I wonder if this article has lead to the fall of his job? Or maybe the fall of his pay cheque at least. Hey we were all worried about how the team would look a feel without Stevie and Shanny and Dom but to write an article like that prodicting that all would be lost completely is pretty stupid.
