Datsyuk Update

Speaking for myself only.

No All-Star game= good.

Injured Pavel= bad.

Time off to rest= good.

Slick move by Pavel? Yes. He got handed a lemon (injury) and made lemonade (skipping ASG).

So what's the status on the Lidstrom injury, or are we not supposed to ask :lookaround:

That's not what people on here are saying. The general idea is that "it was a slick move by Datsyuk"

Oh, and "meaningless regular season game" ? There's no such thing until you clinch the presidents trophy. Also, like I said before, tell this to the fans who, perhaps, waited all year and bought expensive tickets to go see the Wings win or at least give it their best.

...and they certainly jack the prices up for Wings tickets too! F-U Phoenix!

that wasn't a 'winnable' game last night, by the time Pavel went off the ice. Lidstrom isn't going to the All Star Shame, either. I doubt that either of them have anything all that serious wrong. A little va-cay will do all of them good, and perhaps the NHL will take a lesson from this about how the rosters are selected for their showcase weekend.

Aw, gee, I didn't know ya cared...

You're almost as bad as I am. I sent a message to Pasha every day during the playoffs last year wishing him luck. And it worked! Well, almost every game. If we didn't win, he scored points, so I prefer to think that the luck went that way on the days we lost. The day he scored the hattie I sent him a message that said, "Good things come to those who wait but better things come to those with a wee bit of impatience in their hearts." I think it worked.

If I run into you I'll be sure to remember the Febreeze. ;)

Haha- yeah my girlfriend definitely febreezes the hell out of that shirt whenever I'm not paying attention :D

That was definately a winnable game last night when Datsyuk left. The score was only 4-3 when he took his last shift.... the announcers just didn't say anything until much later. I think that Kira's unimpeachable source was maybe refering to the fact that Datsyuk was already being bothered by the hip flexor and was playing through it, but would not go to the all star game because of it. Babcock stated after the game that Datsyuk was a little tender before, but that they thought he was okay. Then in the third he just couldn't go anymore and that they thought if he stretched it more he might be able to come back, but it didn't work. That kind of sounds like he has been fighting this thing for a while, at least to me. Anyway, I do not believe that Datsyuk would pull himself out of a game, saying he is injured, just to get out of going to the All Star game. He is too much of a competitor to do that, and I he is a leader on this team, that would be a very bad example for him to set. The injury is real, and hopefully the time off will be just what he needs to take care of it, because we can't afford to lose him.

I sure hope you're right.

Datsyuk is my favorite player of all time, but he is not more important to me than the game of hockey itself.

I don't have blinders on and give a free pass to anybody when, and if (in this case), they disrespect me.

The Lidstrom situation is worrisome. However, I'm suspicious he just is worn out and wants the rest - something sore but not not serious (?). I'm glad the Wings are resting and non adding more miles to their long travel schedule - i wasn't going the watch the ASG (joke) anyways.

As far as injuries, we have been fortunate so far. Got lucky with Stuart it looks like - that could have been much worse :( . Banged up Datsyuk, Franzen, and Nick is not good - but I think we can live with it in January.... here's to the Wings' health. :beerbuddy:

I'd much rather have Lidstrom & Datsyuk rest this week than ship them off to the All Star Game with the risk of injuries for... well... absolutely nothing of merit.

Losing to the Yotes = Sad panda.

BUT.

Losing Datsyuk or Lidstrom = Sadder panda.
