55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 OK, I can breathe now. I was getting queasy. I think we've found some good lines. Just too bad Hossa didn't get his hattie. Not that we get the free sandwiches out here, but for the rest of you... and for him, it would have been nice. Nice to have Z back too.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) Few good things about this game Datsyuk+Zetterberg = Magical Hossa 2 goals again, he's obviously huge to this team, franzen however... nah :/ Hudler is an awesome playmaker Lids with his 220th goal in his 1300th game in a wings uniform HOWEVER, the bad things :/ Pk sucks per usual Osgood is the worst piece of s*** i ever saw kronwall still isn't there, although no huge mistakes but he's just not good. I Red Wings I 40 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 I wonder what it's like being yelled at by Wayne Gretzky. His ego is probably too big, reminding the refs who he is. Back to the drawing board Gretzky.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Honestly, I don't know what's going on with these guys. Every night its odd-man rushes and breakaways, cross ice passes through the PK box, tonight they left a guy alone in front of the net for a day and a half with no one in sight. Ozzie is plain out playing poorly; for every good save he makes, he's undone by a bad goal. The team played outstanding on offense tonight and didn't have a clue on defense. Lidstrom nails the game winner and I saw him make some pretty awesome (if not subtle) maneuvers at the blue line on the PP, but even he was getting turned around tonight. I don't know how you can have guys out there like Norris Nick, Selke winner/nominee Pavel and Hank, other solid defensive guys like Lilja and Cleary and give up chances like this on a nightly basis. Guest DetroitBoy313 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 When we added Hossa I couldn't WAIT til' the season started because I was so sure we would be blowing teams out of the water.I mean it was only natural to think that way I guess because we were the champs and we added a guy like Hossa and kept Stuart.Man o man was I wrong, and well most of us were wrong. This is by far one of if not the WEIRDEST Wings season I have ever watched. Is it just me or the Toronto game was the clear crystal ball telling us what was expected this season.Granted our record isn't bad at all,but the way these games have been turning out have been absolutely ridiculous.Whatever,it's another win I guess, let's stop complaining.I'm officially sick of Osgood, not trying to bash the guy because I haven't bashed him all season but I'm officially sick of him.He reminds me Legace in the series against the Oilers in 06',you guys remember how Legace would just "LOOK" after giving up goals? Just doesn't have confidence in himself.I think Babcock should just throw Conklin in there for a few games straight and sees what happens.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Ozzie, I believe in your abilities like few others. But you're making it hard for me (that's what she said). You had a great start tonight, but the rest was just the same s*** we've seen before in this season. There's no excuse for you not to be ready and better positioned on the post for that third goal. AtomicPunk 296 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 You know what, normally I would say enough of the Osgood bashing. But tonight, I would hold him while you all took your best shots at him. Nick bailed his ass out tonight. I would have been sick had this game gone to shootouts and Shane Doan lit Osgood up again.
under_par_00 45 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Exactly what I was thinking. Feel bad for the Coyotes after this one, this would have been a huge win for them, and they need it. And they got f***ed by the refs.

And I heartily disagreed with the "penalty" he took, too. Great to have Z back, also. edit: game stars for those of us who lose the feed on CI the instant the game is over... 1. Hossa 2. Datsyuk 3. Just doesn't have confidence in himself.I think Babcock should just throw Conklin in there for a few games straight and sees what happens. This is exactly how I feel. And yeah, about that Toronto game, I remember that one vividly. Not much has changed since then, thats the sad part. I had a sinking feeling when we retained the ENTIRE roster from the cup winning roster that this would happen. Did I really think it would, like you said, after doing nothing more than Hossa? No way! But it was always a lingering thought in the back of my mind. The Wings had Vladdy to fight for in 98. This year, all they have is the smug sense of success fresh in their minds. The Wings should've made some moves - maybe swapped Flip for Bernier, let Stuart go, bring up Ericsson and/or Helm, let Kopecky go, and add a guy to replace Drake. Not too many big moves, but enough to replenish the desire and hunger.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 The complaints about Gretzky being pissed off are just homerism. When Babcock starts lipping the refs after one of the brutal, late game calls that have killed the Wings this season, I've never read any complaints that he was crying. The Coyotes are desperate for points and got hosed, just like the Wings have been. It's all the same thing. If anything, I'm glad to see Wayne lighting up the refs. We're all on the same side on the subject of bad officiating.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 Helm was terrific. And I heartily disagreed with the "penalty" he took, too. Nah, looked legit to me. Bryzgalov was out of the crease but he still had established his spot on the ice and Helm skated into him. Even though the Wings got scored on I appreciate what Helm was trying to do; he is playing hard and going to the net.

I didn't see the penalty, so I can't say if it was legit, sloppy play by a desperate Yote? Did the refs actually talk to Wayne? OhHell!eran refused to talk to Babs the other night. Pat 44 Report post Posted February 5, 2009 should the league take a look at the gang up on zetterberg at the end of the game? All 3 of them cheapshotting him with crosschecks right in the spot of a recent injury? There not even going for the puck either thats what really gets me..
