Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 This is a great move by the Rangers, Avery is gonna be motivated to prove to everyone he's an NHL player, and isnt a ******. We'll see if he can do it, but he adds a spark to a team that doesnt seem to have anything. I wonder if Jagr is next...
Hank 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 Wow... would they really do this? Can't say I'm surprised. Glen Sather has easily been the worst GM in the Eastern Conference in the last 10 or so years. Look at his drafts. Look at the deals he's made. He threw a boatload of money at Gomez, Drury and Redden while none of them are even close to being as good as their contracts dictate. Recently, there are rumors that Sather might go after Schneider as the team is desperately in need of a puck-moving PP QB. That's what Redden was supposed to be. But anyone with one good eye could have told you that Redden is shot. Now they'll bring back Avery when they could have had Shanahan for less. You tell me who's more effective nowadays. Avery will continue to be a distraction and the BlueShirts will still struggle to make it out of the 1st round.
dobbles 252 Report post Posted February 6, 2009 i have no problem with sean avery, and despite the general hatred for him, the reason he isn't playing already is the awful contract dallas gave him. sure he runs his mouth and can be a distraction, but at a reasonable price theres nothing wrong with that. its just no one wants that huge salary for the next few years. they can probably get someone to take him on re-entry wavers or trade him if they agree to pay half his salary. DyingAlive 27 Report post Posted February 7, 2009 Avery needs to be playing again. I don't hate the guy, and I think it's always good to have someone stirring up the pot. Rangers wouldn't be dumb to pick him up.
cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted February 7, 2009 Please note the date on this article. When I first saw it, I thought I could add it to Avery thread or I could I add it to the mullet thread. I decided to do neither; the less press Avery gets, the better off the world is. After hearing the latest story about the Rangers possibly being interested... Ron Duguay.

Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted February 7, 2009 I don't think Avery is that bad of a guy. Yeah his method for screening Brodeur last year was kind of an *******-ish thing to do, but it was not against the rules at the time. When the NHL changed it, he stopped doing it, didn't he? And six games plus anger management for running his mouth? What about Chris Pronger players who love to cross-check and stomp on people? They're the ones who need anger management. Avery didn't say those things because he was angry. He said it because he's stupid. There's a huge difference.
