henrik40 76 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 (edited) After all this guy has been through this season and the little break he was essentially forced to take by management, he comes out and gets a goal and an assist in the first 6 minutes and the fans are absolutely loving it. Good to see. Edited February 21, 2009 by henrik40
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted February 21, 2009 Kovalev is the man. Can't help it that the fact that two of his teamates were cokeheads bothered him
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 He must have been hanging out with A-Rod during his leave of absence. It won't last, though. He'll start to be lazy again after about 10 games or so.
The Mule 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 When he's on his game, he's an elite talent, but I wouldn't ever want to see him in Detroit.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 When he's on his game, he's an elite talent, but I wouldn't ever want to see him in Detroit. A million years ago when Bob was on the team I thought it would be cool to reunite the Pittsburgh duo here in Detroit. Alas, that ship has sailed.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 21, 2009 I like Kovalev, so good to see him come back and do well. He didnt have alot of jump today though, although that's never been Kovalevs game, he can handle a puck though, holy cow.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 It's nice to see his hand has recovered from that wicked slash in OT of game 4 against the Bruins in '04. What a dog.

Doggy 130 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 I had forgotten about that. What a terrible display. Lol I haven't, I dont' think I ever will. I hate the Habs and was glad to see them lose, but I had just never seen a player completely stop, forget about the puck he had possession of, then take out his own teammate while nursing his fake injury, to allow the OT game-winning goal. I've never forgotten it, and because of it I can't respect him ever again.

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) Certainly to his credit, he invariably brings it in the playoffs. Edited February 22, 2009 by Heroes of Hockeytown
Doggy 130 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Only when he wants to be. True spirit of a hockey player. I don't care how many goals he scored, there's no defense for what he did.

norrisnick 1 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 He plays like a bored scrub during the season, cranks it up in the playoffs, ala Fedorov. With the exception that regular season or playoffs Fedorov was a force defensively. That's one thing he never eased up on is his defensive responsibilities. cusimano_brothers 1,655 Report post Posted February 22, 2009 Headline: Kovalev plays up to potential; earns his money. I couldn't help but notice that he had the "A" back on his jersey. At a Friday press scrum Coach Guy Carbonneau was asked if he was going to give it back to him for the Saturday game and he said "I'll sleep on it; if I can sleep". If he didn't get it back, he may have sulked through another game.
