I'm laughing out loud at your insinuation that the NHL is somehow tougher than the Q. The Q, when Crosby was playing in it, was a much tougher league than the NHL is today. If nobody went out of their way to teach him a lesson, it's a safe bet that nobody will in the NHL either.

Please define "tougher". We are talking about the league where a coach's son skates the length of the ice to pound on another goalie who has no interest in fighting, right?

I ******* hate Crosby and Penguins.. how many NBC/Early games have they had this year? The general american population is only seeing Crosby... it's a joke.

The NHL center Ice commercial is the worst. Did we win the cup? So, why are they showing a Pens fan cheering and carring on as if they won?

Concerning all of what is going on here. Crosby wouldn't be so bad if he didn't try to be the NHL's posterboy. If he just came to play, and acted like most everyone else. Then I wouldn't have a problem. Take Alexander Ovechkin (sp?), I think he pretty level head. He comes to the rink, and plays. He doesn't skate around and act like he's being taken advantage of. Crosby is acting like a child, and I don't think he deserves to wear the captin's C. To me, Malkin's the star/leader on the team. He should be wearing it. Crosby is just to young, and immature. Though, that does make him fun to watch. I love watching people make fools of themselves.

RE: the Center Ice commercial.......it's stupid as a Wings fan because we beat them and if you're going to advertise the game, why not show the Stanley Cup champs, who just happen to be a team most people have heard of, even in non-hockey markets.

Although let's face it.....Sidney Crosby is Canadian, our stars aren't. I'm not saying the NHL are run by xenophobes, but aside from Ovie, who are other top-line stars being marketed heavily that aren't Canadian? I honestly can't name any aside from him. I'd love to see Nick and Pavs and Hank in commercials giving the sport some added boosts, but maybe the ad execs don't know how to pronounce "Datsyuk".

Actually, many pens fans would beg to differ. Theres been plenty of talk this year about how Crosby has been making poor decisions with the puck while Malkin has spent games carrying the team.

I'd be fine with all of these arguments if they had any validity, but you are all so worked up about Crosby getting so much attention that all you do is focus on every god damned little thing he does in a game and scrutinize him for it because you think he doesn't deserve the attention, and poor Ovechkin doesn't get 'his'. All you do is look for reasons why he SHOULDNT be the face on the NHL.

Take a look at a player like Jason Blake for example. This guy is the biggest hack in the league, by FAR a bigger cheap shot artist then Crosby, and he spears and slashes players every night - you pay no attention to him. I could list ten other players who play the same way, but because the media doesn't focus on them, you have no material. Tootoo, Pronger (who has done more bad things to the Wings then ANYONE, yet you guys don't give a s*** about his nightly actions)

So let me get this straight. Ovechkin gives Crosby a little shot. Crosby retaliates. Ovechkin re-retaliates and then linesman separate it. All the while a frustrated Crosby, frustrated at losing, frustrated at being out of the playoffs, loses his temper on the ice?

That's what this thread is all about? Well, I guess it has been more than 24 hours since our last bash Crosby thread.

By the tone of the posts here you would think people believe Crosby should not lose his temper. Like he's the only hockey player in the history of the game how is not allowed to ever lose his temper. He's not allowed to get pissed about losing. He's not allowed to get frustrated by how his team is doing. He basically just has to fly under the radar, show zero emotion and if somebody gives him a whack, jab, light bump, he needs to just take it and deal with it?

Imagine how competitive each and every one of us probably is. And we're not pro athletes. We aren't Sidney Crosby. Those guys are in a whole different league of competitiveness that we can't even fathom. I would think I would probably lose my s*** 10x as much as Crosby if I were a pro hockey player.

I don't see the relevance in this at all. If it means that there will truly be a Sid/AO rivalry and the pseudo niceties are set aside, then great. I would love to see some real hate between the 2 stars.

OMFG! I just watched the video. SERIOUSLY?! That's what people are up in arms about? Yeah, Crosby ought to get a 10 game suspension for what he did there. Worse than the McSorely incident IMHO. All this talk of these guys fighting each other and AO "making butter" out of Sid. Two guys shoved each other. That's it. WTF is the big deal? In all honesty, the little hand wave by AO is about the cheapest thing I saw in that entire clip. You don't do that. You don't taunt a guy like Kovalchuk did when he scored a PP goal and he skated past the guy who took the penalty. You don't do the golf swing thing that Andrew Peters did a few years ago. It's one thing to tell a guy to look at the scoreboard. It's another to be openly be dismissive like that and taunt a guy in that manner. I would argue if AO has something to say with his hands, then he oughta man up to and drop his gloves instead of waving. He didn't say that many Pens fans would agree - he said many Pens fans would disagree with you. They aren't all that enamored with Crosby's play as of late, either.

As for the NHL Center Ice commercial, I always get a bit offended when that comes on. Not because there's anything wrong with the commercial and not JUST because I'm a hardcore Wings fan (though I'm sure that comes into play.) The thought of portraying Pittsburgh as if they actually won the Cup is what bothers me. We won. Give us our credit - and that means, don't make hockey commercials and act like the outcome of the SCF was different than it was.

No one takes more crap than Holmstrom, and he puts up with it. He takes more crap than any other NHL'er! And in true Red Wings fashion, he doesn't let it bother him, he just plays his game. Holmstrom is the PERFECT example of letting stuff roll of your back.
