Guerin on the move?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

tsn was reporting this. They said he is not injured/sick, and was removed from the line up just prior to the start of the Islanders/Sabres game tonight.

Their sources were saying he will go to an eastern team for an early round draft pick.

They said that Boston was not part of this deal. I am curious to see who gets him. It's probably a team butted up against the Cap, if they are offering up a draft pick.

I guess it's a good thing he rents his house.

Bill Guerin knows where he's going but all parties are staying quiet until the other team has signed off on the deal.

Nylander was a healthy scratch for the Caps in this afternoon's 6-2 loss to the Cats. Anyone know why?

He's playing some pretty lousy hockey lately. He hasn't played since the 24th.

Which gives a little extra weight to speculation about the Caps acquiring Guerin.

Except that Guerin is a winger and Nylander is a center.

Anyways, here's the latest on Guerin...

Sources have told Sportsnet with more than one team continuing to push hard for Bill Guerin, it now appears the New York Islanders will not make a final decision where to trade him before Monday.

Yeah they need more centres right? Fedorov, Backstrom, Kozlov, Laich, Fleischmann.... you keep giving arguments FOR Washington. Do you realise that?

Do you realize multiple websites have reported its not Washington, including the Washington Post?

**UPDATE** WASHINGTON POST: Tarik El-Bashir reports his sources in Washington say Guerin is not heading to the Capitals. Hopefully there'll be more to follow on this soon. (SPECTOR'S NOTE: Hat tip again to Paul at Kukla's Korner.)

I was just speculating dude. Mack_Attack was trying to prove my logic to be false when in fact his was. Hence, his silence now.

BTW, there are just as many reporting it could be Washington. I never said it WOULD happen, I was just discussing its possibility.

We've been lied to before, but when ESPN.com contacted front-office sources in Boston, New Jersey, Florida, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Montreal, Carolina, Buffalo and New York (Rangers), all denied having any interest or intention of acquiring Guerin. The source in Washington would not comment either way.

Stay tuned, puckheads. We should know the end of this story Monday.

Guerin going to Capitals or Canadiens?

The Washington Capitals or Montreal Canadiens may be the top candidates for where Islanders captain Bill Guerin winds up.

Both sources just as recent as yours.

IMHO, I think it makes more sense for the Caps to go after a Dman anyway. I just don't see why people have taken exception to my points.

Just saying that Nylander being a bum and Guerin really have no connection. Plus, Nylander has a no-move and a lousy contract, so he's unlikely to go anywhere.

Even if Nylander was playing well, they'd still need wingers.

Right. Just as I never said it wouldn't happen. I almost said in my post that there are also sources saying that the Caps are a front runner. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

So this trade is more or less supposed to get done today. newsday.com (long island paper) said that Boston as well as New Jersey weren't in the mix. Possible teams were Buffalo, Carolina, Montreal, and the NYR.

Whats funny, was all the hype of him going to Philly or Washington. Those teams aren't even mentioned in the article.
