Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 Much like everyone here ....... I'm all for Ott getting smoked like that.... But Giggy deserves something too....that was intent to injure too.....was it not, How can a goalie get away with that??? If any other player swung his stick like that he would of gotten action taken against him , who not giggy? Thats BS. And Ott, deserved getting the beat down from Moen..... I want that on record, Giggy should get a game too IMO
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 THE INTENT TO INJURE was on moen when he was eye gauging him when he was on top of him not on nieds That teaches me not to post until I watched ALL of the video.

Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) I support Jiggy's decesion to go after Ott the way he did... If someone was crosschecking Lids right in front of ozzy i would expect ozzy to do something not to just watch it and do nothing about it... And people saying he should get a game for intent to injure...is just beyond me edit: re-worded some stuff and it is frusturating and intresting how homerism works.. stars fans think ott did absolutely nothing wrong. But it always happens and always will. Edited March 2, 2009 by Duck Guy

dicksmack 33 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 The only attempt to injure I saw was Giguere involving himself in something that didn't concern him. Those types of cross checks happen in just about every game in the NHL.
CMatt89 63 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 you can see it at the end when Ott is on top...Moen's legs jump..and the ref quickly grabs Ott's arm and puts it behind his back and then Selanni is like...what the hell are you doing!? Ott should get 10 game minimum. *****.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 Apparently Moen involved himself with Ott because Giguere did. Link So Ott gave Niedermayer some normal, everyday crosschecks that you would expect in a rough game. Giguere comes out and gives Ott a hard whack in the knee and Ott turns to protect himself. Moen bum-rushes Ott and Ott can't defend himself because of his broken hand. I can't speak to the eye-gouge because of the camera angle, but the Ducks' own commentary is pretty reliable on their motivation. If Ott genuinely eye-gouged Moen, 5-10 games. But he shouldn't be the only one suspended. Giguere and Moen should each get a game or two at least for their involvement in the incident; I mean Giguere took a full whack directly at Ott's knee, which has just as much potential to end a career as a hand contacting an eye. agent37x 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Giguere should be suspended, too. Taking a cheap shot like that in a situation that doesn't concern him. How many times have we seen him slash players during games? That s*** needs to stop.
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 A one game suspension for trying to gouge out someone's eye? Seriously? Oooookay. Those must be the "new" rules we're playing by now. I think it's funny that an elbow near the head (whether intentional or unintentional) warrants 5+ games, trying to gouge out someone's eye(s) gets you one at best. Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) I am surprised that they did not hand Moen a six-game suspension for leaving his eyes open while an opposing player attempts to stick his finger in them. -- from ducks blogger i have to agree with him.. lol Edited March 3, 2009 by Duck Guy

How many times have we seen him slash players during games? That s*** needs to stop. Suspended? For that? You could argue that he deserved 2 for slashing, but a suspension? Come on. I also agree with the above poster that it's garbage that Ott gets 1 game for eye-gouging and Boogaard gets 5 for leading with his elbow. Garbage. Should have been the other way around. FYI, those crosschecks happened AFTER the whistle and the game was over, that is not everyday crosschecks. You can't defend Ott by saying Moen shouldn't have lit his lamp because Ott has a broken hand. We all know the saying "you never hit a kid with glasses", but if that kid in glasses is taking a thick stick and slamming it in an unprotected lower back, he better make sure that none of the kid's friends are watching, because glasses or not, he is getting a beat down.
