Tootoo gets his ass handed to him.

Staubitz had to chase him down, what clip were you watching. They started between the dots and ended up at center ice before they even touched each other. That is not backing off to take his tape off that was running scared, he wasn't unwrapping crap from his hands, he was s***ting his pants!

Good try though!

He can't fight, fine don't, whether he is hurt or not, you don't think you can throw, don't be an ass!

Can't help but be an ass, get ready to throw!

Who was it that fought with a broken nose last year for Chicago against Boston, only to have his nose rebroken, did he run half way across the rink, no they stood toe to toe and went at it.

Tootoo is a sucker punching POS, nothing more nothing less, the only reason he is above Downie (note spelling) is because he doesn't use weapons other than his fist, meaning he doesn't attack people with his stick. He likes to punch with gloves on, hit people when they are not looking, all of that crap, but when he has to take tape off, WAIT HOLD THE FIGHT I HAVE A BOO BOO!

Please dude, if you are going to defend your team's players (which is a good thing for a fan to do) at least pick one you can credibly defend!

But you are right CONGRATS on standing up after eating those BOMBS!

Watch some of his other fights. It helps to be informed before you pull stuff out of your ass.

Fights? Oh, you mean where he either drops the mitts and bull charges the guy and tackles them to the ground while punching, which I'd hardly qualify as a fight, or gets the stuffing beat out of him in a stand-up brawl.

Don't think that would qualify as "chasing" down, they were both backing away from the play and teammates, etc., then they went at it after Staubitz gave him a second to pull off his tape. Duh Tootoo is going to take his tape off, he's a team player and would rather look like a "chicken" than put his team on the PK. Its kinda illogical to me if you say he was running away, earlier in the year he earned a decision over Staubitz in Nashville, after he fell down he got up again and piston punched him:

Yeah, he can't fight at all.

Like I said before, this was Tootoo's retribution, though it didn't end well, for Staubitz boarding him from behind earlier. Doesn't sound like a chicken to me.

@Datsyerberger--

Take off the blinders dude. I'm the first to admit Tootoo has had dirty hits. But the man can scrap. You're picking and choosing his bouts that were under par and pulling those out for your arguments.

You just called out Joey Kocur, who fought quite often without removing his gloves because of "boo-boos", and on other occasions avoided fighting altogether because his hands hurt.

Tootoo is a pretty good fighter for his size, and he is willing to man-up and fight on occasion, often against much bigger players. I don't appreciate his sometimes-cheap hits, but I love his energy and I love that he is willing to go when the time is right. I hear that Tootoo's nose got broken in this fight. If that's true, all the more props to the little warrior for hanging in there. In spite of being smaller than virtually all of his opponents, he wins more than he loses. He's a tough little cuss, that's for sure.

Yes he is. I don't much care for a lot of things about Tootoo, but if one assesses his entire body of work honestly, they will conclude that Tootoo is a good fighter, and a great fighter for his size. Tons of heart. Occasionally he will do something less-than-honerable, but more often than not he stands up to much bigger men, fights them fair, and beats them.

I didn't say he couldn't fight at all, if his hands are hurt and he can't fight than don't, otherwise no excuses, throw knuckles and deal with it afterwards.

Of course it doesn't sound chicken to you, you are looking at it through mustard yellow glasses, they had to get away from their teammates? Why no one else could skate, none of their teammates had the ability to move 5-10 feet or even 25 feet, what did some one take all of their skates?

Staubitz chased him down to center ice, to the point where he was striding after him.

*sigh*

Why is this a difficult concept? Did you not take Reading Comprehension?

Tootoo CAN fight with his hands hurt. That wasn't an excuse. He took the tape off because fighting with it on incurs a penalty

So if I'm looking at it through mustard glasses, what are you doing? Most everyone here hates Tootoo and wouldn't ever give him the benefit of the doubt.

Again, the argument he was chicken doesn't fly, if only because the fight was Jordin's idea in the first place.

When did Kocur skate backwards away from a fight all the way to center ice?

If Kocur had a boo boo he fought, he never backed up 60 feet forcing the other fighter to take full strides to catch up to him to even put his hands on Kocur to start the fight.

Just watched the initial stages of the video, and if you watched it, you'll notice that Staubitz was not "chasing him", in fact they were both getting into position and then Tootoo went at Staubitz first.

Then Jordin got PWNED.

Tootoo cant fight, cant anyone see that? Hes been demolished like 5 times this season...

Have you ever made one knowledgeable post when it comes to fighting in hockey?

Tootoo is a ***** who fights dirty, but all in all he's a pretty decent middleweight. Can't fight would be someone like Johan Franzen, who's afraid to ever drop the gloves and turtles like a wuss.

And where did the "5 times being demolished this season" come from?

Opie, just take off your damn Homer goggles, okay?

Clearly he unwraps his hand and throws away the tape and stops to get in position; if you can't see that then you're blind.

On the other hand, Tootoo got demolished!

One of the best beat downs I've ever witnessed and it even made me laugh how poor formed he looked.

He has balls to stay up though, so props so him for that.

100% win for SJ right there.

On the fight, HockeyFights had the following to say:

When staying inside of his weight class, very rarely does Jordin Tootoo lose, at least in a decisive fashion. That wasn’t the case last night. In their second fight this season, Brad Staubitz handed Tootoo his first loss of the year during Thursday’s game between the Predators and Sharks.

The two decided to drop the gloves right off of a second period faceoff. Things were relatively even until a toe-to-toe exchange saw Staubitz connect with a number of unanswered punches while Tootoo came up short with all but one of his. Staubitz continued to lay into Tootoo until the linesmen intervened. Tootoo then skated back to the dressing room with a bloody nose.

Yeah, Opie, I guess in your math first loss of the year=getting demolished 5x. The leading website on the subject is of the opinion that Toots hardly loses.

HAHAHA

The dude has enough tape on his hands to cover a wedding band, he pulls up his hands to go, and backs all the way up to the blue line, then takes the tape off, while backing up to center ice.

Staubs has to take full strides to catchup to him, if he wanted to take the tape off why not do it before the blue line?

Why not do it at the dots, Staubs, as stated by shut out king, was willing to let him take it off. Plus the fight happened right after the drop of the puck, do you mean to tell me that Tootoo had no idea they were going to go at it, he didn't leave the bench hoping to see Staubitz, he couldn't have taken off the 1/4 inch by 1 inch piece of tape (exaggeration be careful) of his hands on the bench. His hand was so messed up that playing with out that MASSIVE piece of tape would have been impossible?

Yet it takes him nearly 10 seconds to even start taking the tape off. His hands are up ready to fight, he nods at Staub, I am assuming because they agree to let him take it off, but either way he back peddled like a beast, moving across almost the entire offensive zone.

You call it preparing for a fight I call it running scared!

Please quote the post where I said anything even remotely close to him getting demolished 5 X's!

All I said was he was running backwards from that fight, which he was, you say taking of tape the size of a ring takes 60 + feet even though you admit he initiated the fight. Well if he initiated the fight he had plenty of time to take off the tape, hell Crosby had time to take the f-ing visor off of his mask, I bet he could take tape off quicker too!

Good grief...this might be the third or fourth time I've told you that the fight was TOOTOO's IDEA!! If Jordin challenged him, which he did, then that really rules out any chickening on either player's part.

Its interesting you say that "his hands are up ready to fight", and adding to it you say "backpeddling" (whats "peddling"?) like a beast". I never really related beast to a chicken, but, maybe I missed something

Oh, and I'm guessing by the sound of it Jordin showed you his cut? It required many stitches, I think, and I know for sure it was an extremely deep laceration. So, the trainer prefers him to play with tape.

I hate Tootoo as much as any Wings fan, but you are being stupid right now. They squared off, they were ready to go when tootoo realized he needed to get the tape off. he started backing up and taking the tape off at the same time, and when he threw it away he went after staubitz. it is extremely clear, and there is no other explaination.

Opie, I think he was taking tape off his hands. Even the Sharks' announcers mentioned it. They didn't infer at all that he was backing off.

I don't like him. I probably never will, but for once he didn't cheapshot or come after somebody after the whistle. And it was just another example of how fights ultimately don't help the game or a player's ability to stay in said game. He's probably out for at least two weeks? Jeezzzzzzzzzzzzuss, what a bloody mess! Now, if something like that could happen to Jackman, Pronger, Torres, LaPerriere, etc...... :yowza:
