Concussion keeps Andreas Lilja's career on hold

Career on hold? Man! That must have been some punch to the head! If this doesn't clear up, the Wings just might be re-siging Chelios again in the off season to take the place of his rostor spot.

Lids - Rafi

Stuart - Kronner

Ericsson - Lebda

Chelios (Meech)

Of course I prefer that Lebda be traded, Chelios let go and give Meech the 6th spot and bring up Kindl with Ericsson!

Yeah yeah yeah I know what's coming, you are complaining, you don't have to post in the thread, blah blah blah...

Sure, then Downey's the one getting headaches a month afterward and the roster is left in the exact same spot everyone in LGW incessantly complains about.

Possible, but less likely. Downey either has a pretty resilient grape or is very good at not letting people scramble his grey matter when he does get hit. People are not all equally susceptible to concussions. There are plenty of guys who take the punch that Lilja took and play the next night. Downey's been a tought guy in professional hockey for quite a while now, his head is pretty well tested.

Sucks about Lils. Honestly though, this just sews up a spot on defence for Chelios, Ericsson is outplaying Lebda, Lebda isnt a veteran of 25 NHL seasons. Ericsson and Chelios as a pairing is great IMO.

I seriously doubt Lilja plays again this year, too big a risk for his career.

Why the smiley face? I have never seen you post about anything that you thought was good, or you liked, or that was positive in any way. Just curious because it doesn't seem to fit.

I just returned from Holiday in the tropics, enjoying life, ready for baseball to start. I'm quite chipper kind sir; that doesn't have anything to do with my displeasure with how the Wings run their team.

Well put. Some people are just more prone to concussions as well. Additionally, Downey actively trains at boxing and how to absorb a blow. That's what MMA is really all about. Giving a powerful punch and reducing a punches sustainability. Lilja needs some training evidentally.

It's pretty ironic how we play at the "Joe Louis" Arena, a place named after a former heavyweight champion boxer yet the team that plays in it couldn't hurt a butterfly if Marian Illitch's life depended on it :P

I sure would love to see Ericsson fight in the big league, I think he's the only capable fighter on the roster at the moment. Not sure if most of you guys have seen any of his scraps but with him and his size, if he could learn to drop em and fight more, I think he'd be a big threat to the opposing team. Just look at him! The guy is huge! All he has to do is get on top of them and it's over

Yes, I know that he's more valuable than an enforcer and shouldn't be fighting or else he'd break his nails etc. But hey, if it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind seeing him dirty his hands a little ;)

We haven't had a Red Wings player fight that dominant in a while, cept for maybe Downey.

Say what you want about the guy, but he does contribute mightily, and he is missed. Get well Andreas. If no one else misses you, I do.
