This team is so un-clutch. It's not that they lose, it's they find the most soul-crushing way to do it. How many late multi-goal leads have we given up? How many in the last minute?

This loss has really pissed me off.I'm not trying to read too much into this loss but I'm telling you guys that this game can be telling us something. The Wings are NOT playoff ready,if they were they would of won PERIOD.

Yeah I heard the Wings will finish 2nd but what the hell does that mean? The standings don't mean jack man! Nashville has our number if we we were to face a HEALTHY Nashville team in the first round they would have a GREAT shot of knocking us off.

Oh I know Ive said that very same thing in other GDT's..... I agree with you that we needed to win...

But to say the team has no heart? I would never go that far..... We are going into the playoffs and have been for a while.... NSH is a DESPERATE team and has been the last 2 times we have played them. Id rather play NSH in a Later round then San Jose later THey could Draw San Jose!!!! let them go at it.. If we can get by the Ducks We could be ok ....COULD be ..

Jesus, you had them finished, Predators season over, and you blow it.

When the Preds scored the second goal, the Wings needed to keep playing aggressive. They had to know the Preds would come after them. They did not. They let 'em do whatever they wanted along the boards, and on the tying goal, THREE Preds were open right in front of Oz. THREE. Count 'em.

Unless they figure out how to play more aggressively, especially in their own zone and CLEAR THE ******* PUCK, their chances do not look good.

babcock puts cleary in to shoot fourth in the shootout?? what the hell babs? i have to pin this loss of lidstrom, though. we're sitting on a cushy two-goal lead and lids backhands a soft pass right across the middle of the ice to a wide open predator. lids is still great, but he's lost something. lids of last year and before never made idiotic plays like that. that play gave the preds momentum and then kronwall taking his dumb-ass penalty with 3 to go sealed the deal. not that this game mattered much, we f***ed up the president's trophy long ago, but still. not the effort you'd like three games before the playoffs start.

Bye bye, Mr. President.

Who cares.

Since 1991, only 5 teams who have won the presidents trophy have won the Stanley Cup in the same year. San Jose has a lot to prove this year. I am predicting the Sharks won't make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.

A meaningless game, and the Wings played like it.

Unfortunately, we've played that way during alot of MEANINGFUL games too.

I hope this means the Ducks won't make the playoffs... or at least that we won't have to play them.

Me too.

This was the reality of things before tonights game.

Yep, and we still won't know what's going on until Sunday.

At any rate, I'm excited to play Anaheim. I expect we'll come after them with revenge in the same way we came after Calgary in 07 after losing them in 06. We've gotten booted by Anaheim 2x in the last 5 seasons. The Wings will be motivated. Thats all we really need.

And if we win, exhausted from the first round due to time zone travel. That is NOT what we need.

This team is so un-clutch. It's not that they lose, it's they find the most soul-crushing way to do it. How many late multi-goal leads have we given up? How many in the last minute?

About 90% of our 'L' column.

To be honest, I'm more pissed that Datsyuk didn't get any points in tonight's game.

And really, I don't understand the logic of Homer and Filppula on Datsyuk's line. Theres no guy that can finish off Datsyuk's passes on that line. Homer and Flip can set up, and Homer can get some nasty deflections, but no one's gonna finish off a sick datsyukian deke.

I'd agree. Filppula finds ways to miss every empty net opportunity that comes his way, and Homer can do some nice neutral zone passing, but his domain is within three feet of the crease.

I'd think Mule would be a great linemate for Pavel.

Everyone knows I'm a harsh critic of the Wings, but I don't see where all the hate is coming from. Ozzie played well, and the Wings did too considering they weren't playing for anything. We didn't have Hossa, and I'm convinced Babcock must've been figuring out what does and doesn't work for the playoffs, considering the illogical lines he went with tonight.

I'm just happy Ozzie wasn't the reason we lost. Maybe the shootout goal was weak, but it wasn't his fault we got there. Special teams were good too.

at least neither of the 3 goals are ozzies fault...played pretty solid. I saw 2 non cals against the preds in the final minute BUT...thats the way it goes this time of year....the refs swallow the whistles

They didn't totally swallow them. There was that HIDeous call on our guy with about 45 seconds to go in regulation. Absolutely criminal at that point on every level.

Honestly, who doesnt want Anaheim? If Ozzie plays decent and the guys actually want retribution for the embarrasment Anaheim put us through in 07, we have a great chance of CRUSHING those quacks.

Exactly how I feel. Not only does Anaheim give the Wings a reason to be hardcore motivated, but we all know what happens when the Wings get the energy pumping in the first round.

Take heart! The Wings actually have the best record against the top 10 power-ranked teams in the NHL this year.

They have had the problem of playing up to, or down to, the level of their competition, for a while now.

As mentioned, like yesterday or two days ago, chances are high of getting the Ducks, so..

Hopefully the boys rest the last two games, forget the 100/1000 milestones, and prepare for the playoffs.

And all these injuries to Hossa are adding to my skepticism of signing him to a contract for next season and beyond.

Did you watch the game??? the Wings had only 4 skaters on the ice--count em 4--while the predators had 6 skaters on the ice--count em 6!! that leaves 2 skaters that the Wings players CANNOT cover---JJJEEEEESHHH!!

Well, those are the best odds of all the individual places to win the Cup.

I do think they could have had an easier time against San Jose, with home ice, than they might have now if they meet.

They weren't lazy tonight. The Preds were playing for their season, and Babcock wasted all kinds of opportunities.

1. Kronwall and Stuart were together. THIS HASNT WORKED ALL SEASON.

2. Filppula was bumped up to be Datsyuk's wing man, despite the fact that he can't finish.

3. Hudler had a great game and was banished to the 3rd line to be stuck with Samuelsson.

4. Samuelsson was on the PP despite the fact that hes ice cold and does nothing.

5. He picked Cleary over Franzen in the shootout, despite the fact that Cleary is ice cold, and Mule is red hot.

This loss is on Babcock.

I agree with all your takes (again, some stuff I hadn't even thought about, so thanks for the input) but the Wings did give it up when they didn't keep playing aggressive. EVEryone but the Wings seemed to know the Preds were gonna pour it on when they started closing the gap and the Wings did let up. Or at least they sure as hell didn't realize that the Preds would start pushing. Kinda like playing prevent defense and any team that does that has already lost.

Why are some of you acting like this was some sort of make or break game for the Wings? The playoffs are a whole new beast. What they do in the last 2 games isn't going tor reflect on how they perform in the playoffs. Yeah it's better to go in on a roll, but it's not the end of the world. Calm down.
