Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Link Kronner hit him into the boards during a drill and he left the ice. Kopecky and Sammy get promoted in his absence and Helm centered Draper and Malts. Need to follow this one closely...
xBrave_Heartx 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Kronner ran him into the boards and he's out. Helm will play center on the 4th.. Kopecky moves to the 3rd and Sammy moves to the 2nd line.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 The most intresting bit of news here is likely the fact that Kopecky moves up while Maltby does not, Bruce believes it means Malts will be riding the pine when Helm is in.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Wow, that really sucks. Why can't we put Leino in instead of promoting Mr. Useless?
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 I'd rather Kopecky sit than Maltby, but Kopecky has been stronger the second half of this season than he's shown prior (not that that's saying a ton).

I disagree. Kopecky has more upside and is better offensivly.. So he fits the 3rd line role better then what Malts would.. But when it comes to being a 4th liner player. Maltby is better. You look at the Winter Classic, Who sat out? It was Kopecky. Odds are, He'll be splitting it with Drapes/Helm on the 3rd throughout the game Babcock said to Pierre on Sunday, That Playoff season is the real hockey season for guys like Drapes and Malts.. - That might be me trying to justify why i dont want Kopecky playing in the playoffs over Maltby though. Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 They rather have Leino getting top minutes in GR. Makes sense because they have a shot at the championship.
xBrave_Heartx 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 OR, they put Kopecky on the 3rd, because they think they'll have Cleary back, and they are just keeping the 4th line in-tact so they build up some chemistry before the game

Don't worry Mac, I'd say Kopecky will be playing on a short leash.

Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Link Kronner hit him into the boards during a drill and he left the ice. Kopecky and Sammy get promoted in his absence and Helm centered Draper and Malts. s***. This is not good for the already weak penalty kill. Cleary's puck clearing and generally great pking is critical to the success of the Wings' pk.

Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Good to know Kronner picked up his physical game again Yeah, I hope that practice means he will be able to injure Nash in game one and secure the serries!
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 f*** Sammy on the 2nd line. Hudler is a wizard with those passes. He should be on the 2nd so he can feed the puck to Franzen and Hank. Sammy on the second line makes my eyes bleed. He is so good at rendering great shifts by his linemates useless and/or unproductive.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Cleary Cleary CLeary.... useless... So his own teamate running him in practise makes him useless?!? mindfly, COME ON! About the news, terrible. I was just looking forward to Cleary getting his game back for the playoffs, and he gets hurt. Hurry back Dano
HanKarin40 7 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 s***. This is not good for the already weak penalty kill. Cleary's puck clearing and generally great pking is critical to the success of the Wings' pk. I agree. Let's hope Cleary's injury is not too serious. Especially since we're already missing Lilja on the PK. Get better soon Clears, we need you!
Red Crazy 201 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Cleary is as tough as they get he will be back for game one. Kronners first hit of the year and he takes out Cleary, hmmmm he must be reading at the LGW hate about Cleary. lol
RedwingsPwn 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 From MLIVE: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...er_out_for.html Update from Tuesday's practice: Wings center Kris Draper won't play in the first two games against Columbus due to the upper-body injury that sidelined him for the last two games of the season. His availability beyond that has yet to be determined. Also, forward Dan Cleary left practice early after getting checked along the boards by Niklas Kronwall. Coach Mike Babcock said he didn't have an update on Cleary's status for Game 1 Thursday.
Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Cleary Cleary CLeary.... useless... Yeah, Cleary, one of the hardest working guys on this team day in and day out, who isn't a top producer but still puts up a pretty good number of points, who is easily in the top three on our team to place in front of the net... you're right. He's useless. I love Cleary. He's easily my favorite player on the Detroit Red Wings for the pure heart and motivation he shows every second he's on the ice. Best wishes to him and here's to him being a-okay! :beerbuddy:
