McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 I have Charter cable in West Michigan and I'll no never go back to DirecTV. Customer service is terrible and the price is too high. DirecTV in winter and spring sucks cause every time a big storm comes through, you don't get reception.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 I have Charter down here and while I would certainly prefer the cable provider where I used to live due to a few other channels that Charter doesn't offer, I get NHL Network down here. And Center Ice has worked without problems the first two nights of the playoffs. Chicago-Calgary was broadcasted from the start on Center Ice, didn't have to worry about not missing it due to multiple coverage on Versus/joining in progress, etc. zata20, if you don't have NHL Network, you are S.O.L. unfortunately if you are trying to watch it at your house. My advice, find a restaurant/bar that carries NHL Network. Can you imagine walking into a bar in Alabama, and asking them if they carry the NHL network? C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 If you are in the local FSN-Ohio viewing area, you might actually have the NHL network feed blacked out. That has happened often where I am that if the Wild were on NHL network during hockey night in Canada, but the game was on FSN-North, I was blacked out of the NHL network feed (which I would have preferred). Yeah, you're right...I came to that horrible realization last night when I couldn't watch the game on Versus. Here's hoping this series is way closer to 4 games than 7. HadThomasVokounOnFortSt 878 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 Cool, no way I can watch the game. There will be no internet feed?
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 Yep, this was my complaint about Center Ice Online which I'm sure they'll improve sometime soon, or maybe NHL Network joins the 21st century and gets live internet streams for their games. People with the TV Center Ice will be fine, and those without Center Ice and TV (which are far more people) can rejoice. I was wondering days ago what games the NHL Network would broadcast. CenterIce via TV does the same though too. This was one of the many reasons I switced to DirecTV this past year. TimeWarner in my area didn't carry the NHL Network and I missed roughly 3-4 Wings games last season as a result.
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 Can you imagine walking into a bar in Alabama, and asking them if they carry the NHL network? I've found a couple in the New Orleans area without much trouble, just look hard enough and you'll find one.

I am in eastern Nebraska and can't watch the 4 games against the Avs. We're switching back to DirecTv because of 4 freaking hockey games a year.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) CenterIce via TV does the same though too. This was one of the many reasons I switced to DirecTV this past year. TimeWarner in my area didn't carry the NHL Network and I missed roughly 3-4 Wings games last season as a result. Center Ice via cable and satellite are not half as bad as Center Ice Online in regards to blacking out games, which are mostly local restrictions (i.e. last night couldn't see Sharks on Versus because they were on Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area) for the TV version. I have seen a few games this season that were simultaneously broadcasted on NHL Network. Season before that.. NBC worked fine too. In both cases Center Ice Online dropped those feeds, on top of many others, for various reasons. The only games I've seen missed on TV at all for people outside the region over the last handful of seasons for the Wings were on some local FOX channel and not FSD. zata20 4 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 Can you imagine walking into a bar in Alabama, and asking them if they carry the NHL network? I would have thought the same thing when I moved down here from michigan, but there is actually a decent amount of hockey down here. I go to the University of Alabama-Huntsville and we have a division 1 hockey team(hopefully joining the CCHA next year) and we also have the Huntsville Havoc (minor league team). Vladifan 680 Report post Posted April 17, 2009 This was one of the reasons I switched to DirecTV last year. Sounds like TimeWarner in my area did add NHLN earlier in the season, but I know there's still plenty of areas where cable subscribers don't get the Network. I'd be uber-pissed if that was the case for me, especially in the playoffs. What uber-pisses me off potentially, is that once again the NHL Network might have exclusive coverage outside of Michigan - just like Versus did in last night's game. WHICH MEANS....that as much as I'd love to watch the game on the sports channels that we also pay for, we won't get to see the game on FoxD. Oh how I wish I could go somewhere (i.e., Directv), just type in our zipcode and find out what's going to be blacked out. No such luck. They listed last night's game on both FoxD and Versus. There oughta be a law.....
