I know this will anger a lot of fans on here because many Red Wings fans seem to think that Tomas Holmstrom is Phil Esposito reincarnated, but this guy needs a demotion, and he needs it NOW. Bring Helm up to play with Hossa and Datsyuk, and send Holmstrom to the BENCH. I'm a big fan of what Homer does on the PP, but he is absolutely USELESS 5 on 5. Doesn't score, doesn't hit, doesn't skate, doesn't run the goalie, doesn't do ANYTHING productive. The best thing he has done this series is elbow a guy in the jaw. That's sad.

Pfft, Hossa and Datysuk are playing poorly, and it has nothing to do with Homer. Although I would agree that Homer shouldn't be on the 1st line 5v5. Helm isn't the answer. The wheels are off. Mix up the lines, put Zetterberg and Cleary with Hossa, Franzen with Dats.

Why does everyone on here have a huge hard-on for Tomas Holmstrom? I can't understand it. The guy is a one dimensional player, and needs to only be used in his one dimension. The POWER PLAY. You honestly think that Datsyuk and Hossa wouldn't play better with Helm on the other wing? I can't believe that. That line needs a speed boost so bad, and Helm is the obvious choice. Why can't this SIMPLE move be made?

How many times did you see the puck go back to the blue line in the attack zone and it kept rolling past it when normally you would see the defence play it back in?

The deffense were backing up and not holding the zone the result...

Holmstrom stands there doing nothing in front of the net then has to skate akwardly up ice to get onside.

Its not his fault he isnt designed to play this way hes not much of a skater if the deffense is going to back up early to play more of a defensive game I think the wings should re shuffle the lines put a more speedy Cleary in Homers spot.

The 4th line with Draps and Helm, bring up Leino for the 2nd or 1st line and sit Kopecky and Maltby.

Hudler owned Niedermayer in the corner tonight, and he whirled out of a hit from Pronger before the PP.

If he can do it (better than some of our bigger guys), Leino could do it. Not I particularly care if Leino is in or not. Hossa and Datsyuk stepping up is more than enough.

I have way more faith in Hudler than I do Leino. Hudler's been here before, knows the ins and outs...minus the whole Brown thing.

But yeah, bottom line: Hossa and Datsyuk need to start converting.

Babcock needs to give them a winger that can take some of the pressure off. Holmstrom is a zamboni out there 5 on 5. No forwards can play 2 on 3 and be productive.

Holmstrom is the only guy screening the goalie. It's not his fault nobody is bothering to take advantage and shoot closer than the top of the circles or the blue line.

Like I said, though: he's the only Wing who consistently went to the net tonight. And that's pretty much the only way the Wings are going to beat Hiller -- getting up in his face.

Homer's doing his job. Mule's been good. Our finesse stars need to start doing their jobs.

DARREN HELM has all the room he wants. Want to know why? SPEED. Holmstrom = Donkey. Helm = RaceHorse. It's not rocket science. Switch Helm and Holmstrom. Problem solved.

Homer has more respondsibility than just standing in front of the goalie, you need to possess the puck before you just stand infront of the net aimlessly. The main problem with the Hossa line is Hossa. Im a guy who is obsessed with Datsyuk, ive watched every single one of his games in the NHL, sometimes I think I only watch Wings games to watch him and not the team, regardless, I know how he plays and his tendencies.

For anyone doubting Datsyuk, watch our PP during the next game. Watch Lidstrom lead the puck up the ice and pass it to Datsyuk to enter the zone. Do you understand how valuable it is to enter the zone unmolested and pass it off to a teammate as oppossed to dumping the puck up the boards to a Norris caliber defenseman waiting to blast it back up the same boards?

Watch highlights of Datsyuk play, he thrives on gaining the zone as fast as possible, getting to the goal line and stopping on a dime and either looking for the cross crease pass or passing it back to an open defenseman. That is Datsyuk's game in a nutshell.

Datsyuk, defensively persues the puck in the neutral zone and his own zone. He doesn't stand around waiting for a loose puck(Hossa) or a pass from his teammate. You'll find him most of the time behind Osgood playing the role of a third defenseman, either stripping the puck and getting it out of the zone or passing it to an open and flat footed Hossa. Hossa, after receiving the pass skates up the boards through the neutral zone and than dumps the puck in, expecting Homer to be the second coming of Pavel Bure and retrieve the puck from two Anahiem defenseman.

Of course, the 5% of the time Hossa doesn't chip the puck in, he does attempt to carry it into the zone like Datsyuk but he generally loses the puck. The entire act of Hossa playing "Dump and chase" hockey is what kills the line, whether its Datsyuk or Zetterberg.

Hossa doesn't fit this team and even if they cleared enough space for him to stay it would have to be on the third line because he clearly doesn't fit with either Zetterberg or Datsyuk. Cup or not, say goodbye to Hossa.

Hey Jake Ryan, I've noticed that all you do is complain about ridiculous things and are negative just to get a reaction out of people. This along with your join date makes it increasingly look like you are in fact a troll. However you are apparently doing a good job at not blatantly being a troll and attempting to be a fan. So please move along or stop being 100% negative just to get a reaction. It gets old quick. If you are a Wings fan, please acquire some knowledge about the team and hockey first before you post again.
