ryan91 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Can someone please explain to me why Brad Stuart has twice the amount of points Pavel Datsyuk has? 3 Points in 8 games for Pavel is unacceptable, especially because his first career hart trophy nomination has led to one of his worst playoff performances. I dont mean to sound like another pessimistic wings fan because i think we have too many on this site as it is, but 1 goal in 8 games is a joke. I understand his totals should increase as he will be reunited with Hank and Homer, but his line was expected to be our offensive force this series as Zetterbergs trio was the Getzlaf shutdown line. In a complete contrast to last years playoff output, he has been at the very least disapointing. (13th/18th in team point totals). Do you think he may be playing through some kind of injury? ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Dats hasn't scored much at all but let's not dis Stuart. He has been one of our best players and probably our second-best defenseman (Ericsson might have something to say about that but at the moment I think it's 1 Lids 2 Stu 3 Big Rig 4 Kronwall). Mors 201 Report post Posted May 9, 2009 Datsyuk draws a lot of attention from the opposing team, which in turn creates opportunities for other players who aren't being covered as closely. It's not like Datysuk is out there doing nothing every night...
stormboy 47 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 i just keep thinking that as long as we're winning games, it's okay because once he DOES break out, the opposition will be eff'd. i didn't get to see last game but from the highlights it looked like he had a lot of jump in his step and was getting chances but just wasn't quite finishing. i think he'll be fine. also, the fact that stewie has that many points is a really great thing. go stuart! Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Stuart also did not practice which concerns me. I read that he will be playing tomorrow. Hopefully just resting a sore muscle or something minor.

Guest Shoreline Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Everyone has their off years, and if the Wings go to the cup finals this is only half way through the playoffs, just about. Hopefully he gets out of his slump these playoffs.
Rivalred 630 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Pavel is not the only Wing having problems finding the back of the net. Z has been struggling too (that open netter does not count in my book and up until game 4, Hossa was not exactly producing.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 The fact Stuart is playing so well is a tremendous relief for me. He was impressive in the playoffs last year, but after watching his horrific regular season, I wondered what happened. Now, he's playing well with and without the puck again and the Wings have really needed that with the injuries to the blueline.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 10, 2009 Stewie has been fantastic! The most consistent Wing thus far in the playoffs. Dats will be fine.

Exactly what I was thinking. We cant have all our big guns putting up a lot of points. Pavel is still trying hard, and he is playing a solid game out there, just not putting up a lot of points yet. I have faith that he will be very clutch soon. And Stuart has been a beast this whole playoff run so far. Keep it up!
