sean 19 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 If Malts doesn't get back in the lineup in the playoffs, I bet he'll hang 'em up.
Decoy Jones 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 We don't we just take in Behind JLA and put him down like a horse? He'll be back.
zaxx 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 He may hang them up either way. I expect he wants to be a significant part of the team and this has not been a good year for him. However many people have had bad years, found the problem, fixed it and came back better then ever. Who knows. If Malts does retire I hope he finds a place in the Wings organization since he has been such a huge part of our teams success for a long time.
ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 He hasn't had a great year. If we win the Cup again, it'll be a good way for him to go out. That said, depending on what happens next year with resignings, he might have a roster spot to return to again.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 I was dead wrong about him staying in the line up over Abdelkader, as it turned out. I'm genuinely surprised that Babcock made such an un-Babcock-like move, and while I feel bad for Maltby, I'm happy with the concept of the move just because Mike has been so stubborn about making changes before. I'm sure he'll hang around until at least next year after Mike decides what his starting line up is going to be. Not everyone is going to be back, there might be room for him again. 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 He signed his contract after age 35, didn't he? With the cap what it is, they almost have to play him or risk losing him to waivers (not that he would be snatched up, but you know...) I love the guy, but after his contract is up, I do see him hanging them up. He's still a frequent spokesman for the players in interviews and such. Perhaps he might get into something in the media field?
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted May 15, 2009 I'm still surprised Babcock sat Malts in favor of Abdelkader. Yes, Abdelkader's got a regular spot on the 4th line in the future and is a valuable reserve now, but I thought Malts had an effective series and would have been a valuable presence in the lineup in a game 7.
