Booster313 138 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 I love how players are immune to criticism if they've done something great in the past. In the playoffs it is "what have you done for me lately?" Because in the playoffs if you don't do something then there is no "lately." This isn't the regular season. If that's how you would like us to view things then you should leave the site, because your last post was terrible...your useless to us now. Nevermind that you have good hockey sense and usually contribute value to the threads...your only as good as your last post...oh wait. Hmmm
Jake Ryan 1 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 I heard Datsyuk tell Zetterberg "Can't we all just get along" after they read this thread in the locker room today.
Hockeytown_Ryan 122 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 who should we blame if not him. every star player gets extra attention this time of year. some rise above and establish themselves as somebody the team can count on when it really matters, some crumble... nobody else is responsible for datsyuk and his production (or lack there of). if he can't respond well to tighter, more physical coverage and find a way to produce anyway, then it makes his hart candidacy almost embarrassing. he was compared this season to malkin, ovechkin, crosby, etc. look at what those guys have done these playoffs. they've led their teams. datsyuk has fallen off the face of the earth. he's one of the most talented players in the nhl, no doubt about it, but there have been concerns about his play in the post season throughout his career. he played well the last two years, so clearly he's capable. but his inconsistency this time of year really brings into question his ability to perform under pressure. I'm not disputing what you say...ever had a run of bad luck ?? ever?? have you?? He's just having a rough go at it like I said... His Hart candidacy well deserved and far from embarrassing In my Opinion... Yes he has fallen off , but if you cant see he is getting out there and working thats all you can ask a player to do..... I dont know what else to tell you other than..It sucks yes... But all we can do is cheer him on every time he gets a assist or makes a move....... Go Pavel...... not WTF is wrong with you Pavel? Crosby, Malkin, (Only real players on that team that score anyways) and then Ovechkin..... to compare the stats is'nt all that fair... Ovechkin is out there for EVERY PP all the time and for the full 2 minutes he gets way more Ice time then Datsyuk....and Crosby is nothing without Malkin and Malkin isnt much without Crosby....they play well together thats why they are being compared to Pavs. so to have Datsyuk a candidate is DESERVED he worked all season to get there...if he doesnt win Ok fine....But he was mentioned with the best and is one of (if not the) best forward all around in the game In My Opinion. ComradeWasabi 109 Report post Posted May 18, 2009 By the way, the difference between Datsyuk and Joe Thornton is that Datsyuk looks like he is trying his heart out every game. Thornton certainly never had that look about him.

Kira 451 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 You know, it is kinda sad that the only way you will give the guy credit is if he scores ten hat tricks over the next five games. He's out there bustin' his ass every night...six shots yesterday, some of them pretty close. I realize close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, nuclear warfare and slow dancing, but him getting close is a hell of a lot better than some guys who don't even have shot one. And you have to admit he's been pretty responsible when it comes to defensive duties. Want proof of that? How about the 5-on-3 the other day that he was out for? Over a minute and he did pretty damned well. So can we quit finding fault with the guy? His time will come. Honest.
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 the only way you will give the guy credit is if he scores ten hat tricks over the next five games. I think most would settle for a goal every few games...
mach1 O4 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 What I am saying is that Pavel Datsyuk isn't Alexander Ovechkin. The best comparison is Sidney Crosby but Crosby has wingers that actually fit his needs. Holmstrom is a fourth liner and Hossa is a puckhog in the truest sense of the word. Put Datsyuk on a line with Cleary and Franzen and lets see if he still has a handful of points... maybe he'll pickup an empty netter or three I believe Datsyuk is injured he does not seem as strong on the puck,I think the duck series has made him a bit timid also . Stiffy 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Prediction. One of these games instead of passing to Hossa Dats is going to go straight into the net and we will all say "Wow!" Being tied up shutting down their top line is a lot of work, but we know he can do it all. Homer is, I also believe, a liability on that line. He has to go. I think Cleary has stepped up as a worthy replacement in all ways, but do we move him again unless we need to?
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I am not cool enough to think of "Carby" as a name. OH MY. There's more than one person in the world who thinks that Datsyuk's scoring problems are more NINETY-SUX related than Pavel Datsyuk related?!! Imagine that. All of the newspapers are saying it. The coach is moving the lines around because of it. A lot of letsgowings members are coming around to it. Are you going to keep your head in the sand or pull it out? It's not rocket surgery. Hmm... Pray tell, good sir, what is rocket surgery? Prediction. One of these games instead of passing to Hossa Dats is going to go straight into the net and we will all say "Wow!" I think Cleary has stepped up as a worthy replacement in all ways, but do we move him again unless we need to? As Norrisnick pointed out, Datsyuk and Hossa aren't our 'shutdown' line. Toews and Kane are -3 because they were playing Franzén-Zetterberg-Cleary. Not only did that line shut down the Blackhawks' top scorers, they also scored goals of their own. Which brings us to the next point - Cleary should not move down to the 2nd line (yes as far as I'm concerned Hossa-Datsyuk-Holmström is our 2nd line...) because he's been great where he is. I think that the only replacement for Holmström (as a sort of player who will hit and go into traffic) is Abdelkader, but Holmström is still better than him at what he does. Helm is fast and all, but not very big, and wouldn't do a great job at screening the goalie - he is small and would get moved easily. The other option would be to put up a playmaking type such as Filppula or Hudler, but that's a different story.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 you are a big whiner. but considering you sig I guess that's par for the course. Why...because I'm not sitting here praising Dats for his defensive play and disregarding the fact that he was the leading scorer of this team this season? datsyuk is off the pace for a couple of series with half the playoffs yet to come and listen to all the babies bitching. they come out of the woodwork like roaches. You need to relax, I'm not (nor are a lot of people) bitching about Dats. We're simply stating that he's not doing well offensively, especially coming off his regular season campaign. It doesn't matter if there are half the playoffs yet to come (which you don't know there are). The fact is, he's been struggling to score this postseason. Boy, that sure sounds like bitching to me. /sarcasm in the 07 and 08 playoffs zetterberg has scored 2 more points (41-39) more than datsyuk. that's it. these playoffs aren't over. Who's saying anything about Zetterberg? I certainly wasn't. i wish datsyuk had FOUR empty net goals this year like everyones favorite injury prone swede but he's not been lucky enough for that but I guess thats the measure of outpreforming for alot of bandwagoners. If Dats had four EN goals he'd still only have 9 points in 12 games. That's not exactly tearing it up for a guy that is one of the best all-around players in the world. Does that surprise you that I think he's one of the best all-around players in the world? Perhaps you should stop judging people before you have the slightest clue what their feelings are toward the players. it's just laughable how much bitterness and spite there is on here for datsyuk, always been that way. greedy russian this and greedy russian that, he's been called that here for 7 years. Nice job putting words in people's mouths. Never once did I claim he was a greedy russian...and if I did, please find it. You're just pissed off because people are stating the fact that Dats is struggling offensively. No one is calling for his head, just that if the Wings' depth stops producing they're going to need both him and Hossa to step up on the scoreboard. So far, they haven't. Why is this so difficult for people to understand without getting so defensive? You'd think people here were insulting his family the way some are blindly defending him. Jocke 53 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) better takeaway ratio ... check isn't injury prone.... check better stickhandler...check can play with anyone and make them better ... check isn't swedish... a crime with the homers here on lgw.com/swedesruleandarentgreedylikerussians.html Are you trying to make a z-d comparison? Let me continue.. outplayed by zetterberg in the playoffs.... check putting up points in the playoffs.... [ ] I love Datsyuk but you can't defend him when he is playing like this when it matters the most. I'm sure he will start playing like the king he is soon enough though.
