Ms_Hockey 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 mlive article "Physically, I was there, but mentally, I wasn't," said Osgood. "The playoffs were so long. I was sitting there thinking, 'We were at the top of the mountain, now we're at the bottom and we have to go all the way back up again and there's a long way to go.' So yeah, there were nights I didn't play well for sure. I buried myself early in the year statistically, where I had no shot of getting close to where I even wanted to be." One day in February, Holland called Osgood into his office. It's a meeting that changed everything. "I expected our entire team to have a struggle mentally," recalled Holland. "But enough was enough. So I called Ozzie into the office and said, 'Let's have a minimum week's breather.' And I reamed him out. I thought it was important that he get back to what makes him successful." From that alone, I'd say the alcohol rumor is probably nothing more than that.. a rumor.
egroen 384 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Why else do you think Ozzie built that lodge in his back yard? He's making hooch!!!
NomadFromKazoo 42 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Ozzie was cloned and replaced and it took 10 days for them to program all of Ozzie's memories into Neo-Osgood. Did you notice the last Wing's photo where they were crossing the street and he was different then everyone else? Like he was the only one holding a cigarette, had a different foot forward, was barefoot, etc. Oh wait, was that the Beatles???
mmorland 16 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) That is possible. In the playoffs you'd want him in the best condition you could get, so not a drop. You never offer alcohol to a recovering alcoholic. It's cruel. Remember when they dumped the champagne out of the Cup and refilled with with Gatorade for McCarty? A lot of players from what I hear cut off all regular drinking habits come playoff time so I think anything Osgood has said refering to drinking wouldn't be any more serious than lets say Zetterberg, Draper, or Lidstrom. But that's just my guess. Edited May 21, 2009 by mmorland

Barrie 900 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I don't remember where i heard it but isn't he going through/ went though a bad divorce? Having a rough year and needing a 10 day break when going through a bad divorce makes sense to me.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 if he is a boozer than i blame wings fans... in the freep/news a bit ago there was articles about player/fan interaction and ozzie said he mentioned on the air that he hadn't had a drink in a long time and then that night returning home he had 20+ cases of booze on his front porch as for any divorce rumors... someone ought to tell Jenna to move out of his house then... just saw her there yesterday. I think you are all getting Ozzie confused with Jon and Kate +8... their marriage may be on the rocks I just seriously laughed so hard. Jon and Kate's marriage is so ending soon. haha Ozzie being a beligerent drunk is bogus in my opinion. I *highly* doubt the Wings would put up with it if he were and the last thing on Ozzie's mind would be playing hockey.

Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I think this goes to show how much people are willing to believe anything they read on the internet. If someone started a rumor on the internet that Ozzie was *** and sleeping with a teammate, it should show up here and at least 1 person would find some anecdotal nothing to that to them, verifies it. If someone started a rumor on the internet that Ozzie was *** and sleeping with a teammate, it should show up here and at least 1 person would find some anecdotal nothing to that to them, verifies it. You mean you haven't heard!?!?! It's....... not true. The person who asked me did so privately, and out of concern for Ozzie. I've been to sites where trolls come on and start crap. If you listen to them, one of the Wings is *** and his family is a cover (kids aren't his), another beats his wife, another was fathered by someone his mother would never have met... It goes on. Stupid people say stupid things and stupid people believe them. I'm not saying anyone who thinks that it is possible that Ozzie may get divorced or have a problem with booze is stupid. Those things can happen to anyone (generally speaking). Hockey players are far from immune. I'm just saying that people need to get their facts straight before putting their fingers to the keys, especially when it is something that could hurt someone. Can you even imagine if every post on the internet was subject to slander/libel laws?
bonan78 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Ozzie was cloned and replaced and it took 10 days for them to program all of Ozzie's memories into Neo-Osgood. Brilliant, just brilliant. Someone needs to clone Datsyuk, program his memories and in 10 days dress them both. Neo-Datsyuk couldn't possibly be colder than actual Datsyuk at this point.
