Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Why thank you. That being said, Chicago is a kick-ass city and it sucks that people have had bad experiences there, but I've had bad experiences in a lot of different cities I've been in.....and I don't make blanket statements. This is my home we're talking about here. I make blanket statements when I have enough personal information that I feel I can make one. Sorry that I don't like your city but it's been a God awful place for me to visit. I've been there a number of times and each time I wish I could forget. And it's completely about the people. I went to NYC thinking it was going to be terrifying and it was anything but. Had a great time, didn't feel threatened at all. In Chicago, I wish I had been packing a Glock the whole time for my own safety. Well, i'd have felt safer anyway. Don't you guys have a train line that would run through Gary, Indiana on pass Soldier's Field? I think it was called the South Shore line or something? Yeah, that was another mistake I made getting on that thing. In all fairness I'm pretty sure I boarded in South Bend so.... I'm sure there are awesome parts and awesome things to do in Chicago. And as somebody who grew up just South of Cleveland I know Chi-town ain't the only place with "issues". For me, it's just been the city I have had the most bad experiences in. Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Where on God's green earth did you go where you felt you needed a Glock for protection? Unless you were walking around the projects, there is no reason why you should have felt that way.
Zetterling 16 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 A big titty'd *** man with perky collagen injected lips, surfing in his back yard waving the Mexican flag next to a palm tree. Someone REALLY needs to Photoshop this. hahaha, I can totally see that being awesome. Time consuming, but awesome.
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I haven't been to that many American cities - New York, Philadelphia, Chicago (as far as I'm concerned places like Annapolis are not cities, even though it was quite nice) - but I actually quite liked Chicago. Great architechture. And I love the fact that since Lake Michigan was getting too polluted, they made the Chicago River flow backwards, instead of trying to limit their pollution I liked NY more, but still thought it was a fun city. Never been to Detroit, but I'll get there some day I imagine. With regard to the Blackhawks, there are obviously some of them who annoy me. But when it comes to judging players, I ask myself the question 'Would I like to see them in a Red Wings uniform?', and for lots of them it is yes. Sure, Byfuglien is annoying, but he's the kind of guy you'd like on your team. Imagine if he could tip shots as well as Holmström could... I really like Påhlsson. Don't like Burish though. And as someone else commented, I'm sure I like their defenders as much as Samuelsson and Cleary do
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I frickin hate the Hawks, their fans, Kane, Eager and Campbell. Besides, as soon as a series start I throw out all the nice things I`d have to say about there players out the door. Toews sideburns are dirty and I hope he gets Umberger`d, doesnt mean I wouldnt die to have him on my team though.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 Campbell Actually, that's one I do hate, I forgot about him. I hate his laughable salary, I hate how overrated he is, I hate his fourth forward mentality, I hate his impossibly stupid spinoramas, I hate that he's a ginger, I pretty much just hate Brian Campbell all day. I eat up his s***ty play and turnovers like Mikael Samuelsson.

The Secret 304 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I'm not a fan of Buttfuglin and I HATE how Patty Kane is always chewing on his f*ck*ng white mouth guard.... I hope he swalows it.
NGKEIB 32 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) I'm not a fan of Buttfuglin and I HATE how Patty Kane is always chewing on his f*ck*ng white mouth guard.... I hope he swalows it. I think he learned his mistake, no? That one time he collided with Toews? I thought that he lost a couple teeth since he was chewing his mouth-guard and not using it as it should be used. I could be wrong. Edit: he also looked pretty lazy on the OT goal. He was pretty much level with Samuelsson, but then couldn't keep up. I guess Slow Patrick couldn't keep up with Mikael 'Fastest boule-player in Mariefred' Samuelsson. Edited May 21, 2009 by NGKEIB
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) Where on God's green earth did you go where you felt you needed a Glock for protection? Unless you were walking around the projects, there is no reason why you should have felt that way. That's exactly my point. I've never felt as uneasy in any city as I am every time I go to Chicago. Since I am bagging on Chi-town so badly I think it only fair to mention that my wife thinks its one of the best places ever. Something about great shopping and s***. What do I know, I only pay the bills. Edited May 21, 2009 by GordieSid&Ted
Electrophile 3,554 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 That's exactly my point. I've never felt as uneasy in any city as I am every time I go to Chicago. You didn't actually answer my question. There are projects in every major city in the United States, that doesn't mean Chicago is an unsafe place to be. And regardless of what city it is, if you're walking around the projects, you have no effing clue what you're doing. I want to know where you were that you felt you needed a gun to protect yourself. My dad is going to think it's a hoot and a half.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 I only hate the fact that Byfuglien has pubic hair all over his face. And the fact that the Versus crew is on their knees for Adam Burrish, as if hes Dustin Brown or Brendan Morrow. But I don't actually hate any of the players - yet. bonan78 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 (edited) None of the Blackhawks players have done anything to warrant any hatred, unless you count Burish dissing the Octopus in his little commercial before the playoffs. As a whole, they are respectable players, and speaking objectively, they are fun to watch. Eager has a history of taking cheap shots, but again he hasn't really done it to us yet, so no real hatred. The fans, on the other hand, there is some real hatred, mostly in response to the way they choose to bash on the city of Detroit and the economy in Michigan, as if that has anything to do with hockey. There's a difference between having pride in your city and your team and kicking someone while they're down, which is essentially what they are doing. Like many Wings fans, I started following the team while living in the Detroit area, but have since moved elsewhere. Like many expats, I still take pride in the city I called home, and take it personally when others who are completely ignorant of how great a city it is choose to drag it through the mud, all in the name of a sports rivalry that isn't even really a rivalry anymore. Shows a complete lack of class on the part of Blackhawks fans collectively, although I know it is really just a vocal minority and every team has them. If you don't like a team, then the team itself, their symbols, traditions, players past and present, coaching staff, etc. are fair game, but the line should be drawn at player's families, the fans on any individual level, and the city where the team plays. Keep it classy Hockeytown. Lets Go Wings! edit: Punctuation Edited May 21, 2009 by bonan78
