talex 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 It is looking more and more like a Stanley Cup Finals Rematch. Chicago and Carolina are good teams, but 4 out of 5 against the Wings or Pens I think is a pretty tall hill to climb. I say it will be a hard fought series, but will end the same way as last year... Wings in 6.

Holmstrom96 347 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I'm worried about the present series. Chicago is a good team. We won a couple hard-fought games at JLA. Now it's time to go to Chicago and we need to steal at least one of those games coming up to cement things.

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I'm not looking too far ahead yet, but it's tough to ignore. I haven't bothered to look into this, but if it happens, I think it would be the first time since the Oilers beat the Islanders in the 1984 Finals for their first Cup. T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 I'm not the type to worry. But Chicago still worries me. And Pittsburgh really worries me. I'm actually afraid of Pittsburgh this year, and I secretly hope Babcock doesn't decide to put me in.
dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 If the Wings win tonight I'll start looking ahead to the SCF.. not until then. Let me just say that with the way Malkin and Crosby are playing, the Pens are a tough team to stop.

As it turns out, both Khabibulin and Fleury have identical 0.899 save percentages after last night's defensive gem that ended with a final 7-4 score. No team with a .899 save percentage is going to beat Detroit

And get ready to hear about the parallel ad nauseum. "Old passing the torch to the new" blah, blah, blah. That said, we're less than halfway through this round (I don't see either team sweeping), it'd be nice if we could at least wait until after game 5 to get ahead of ourselves, like we did last round. No team with a .899 save percentage is going to beat Detroit Well, unless Crosby and Malkin are scoring and Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Hossa are not that is. I'm with the other posters, Pittsburgh really does scare me. On the one hand, Detroit totally dominates lately, on the other, Pittsburgh will have an axe to grind and their big guns are performing. In theory if we keep up our secondary scoring we won't have a problem, but it makes me nervous going into that series withuot any of our big guns other than Franzen going. talex 1 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Not attempting to jump way ahead, if you read my post I say Blackhawks are a good team, however 4 out of the next 5 is not very likely and anyone with logical thought will have to admit that, same thing goes in the Carolina/Pitt series with Pitt now heading to a hostile rink. Tonights game to me is the most important of the series, but I still think the Wings will sweep this and have said so since the matchup came to reality, at the least I think they split in Chicago and finish it in game 5. I am also not that worried about Pitt, sure they are playing well but it's not like the Capitols threw 4 good lines at them and last nights game the Wings would have decimated them if they played D as loose as they did last night not to mention the Wings are playing far better D than the Canes did last night. All in all I am just preparing the puke bag for all the hype as another poster mentioned about the passing from old to new crap you are going to hear and the 90 minutes to 5 minutes of positive coverage of Sid over any Wing. Anyways tonights game is extremely important but I have faith in this team which is under far less pressure than the young Hawks are right now... Gooooooo Wings! dawings1905 2 Report post Posted May 22, 2009 Could the Pens beat the wings? Yes....Could the wings beat the Pens? Yes. It would be a great series. IMO. I do think the Pens are a better TEAM, than they were last year. I think they are deeper on their forward lines. Their D is still a little suspect, but they have the guns up front to make up for it. The only thing I don't like about them is.....IMO Crosby still lacks the humility. He has a real problem giving credit to other teams, and I hope the Wings can help him with that. I would have thought last year would have tought him something, but the issue is still there. IMO.
