XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 Even if you didn't like the call, I think the ref was trying to let the Hawks know that any more retaliation for the Kronwall hit will be called before things get out of hand. Any respect I had for Q (hometown guy) is out the window. lol your name is pricelsss!!!!

Besides, you're just scared Malkin will come down the ice dipsy doodling around somebody and Kronwall or Stuart will f#$@ing bury him!

RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 Should have been suspended for game 5. That would help the Hawks more than hurt them. When you hear most coaches take shots at the officiating, they are very careful not to overstep their bounds "I don't agree with the call" "From our point of view it was not a penalty" "I don't make the calls but I thought it wasn't the right one", etc. This idiot just comes right out and blurts out "worst call in sports ever" lmao Just priceless he gets fined too. I can't wait to bounce this joker to the golf course - think he cheats on his strokes? lol Let's go Wings dispatch of this fool please.

jvxp 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 Joel Quenneville fined $10,000 for ripping officials by Ansar Khan Monday May 25, 2009, 6:05 PM The NHL on Monday fined Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville $10,000 for making public comments critical of the officiating in Sunday's game. Quenneville called the roughing penalty on Matt Walker at the end of the first period "the worst call in the history of sports.'' "They ruined a good hockey game and absolutely destroyed what was going on, on the ice,'' Quenneville said after the game. His postgame press conference would make for a funny beer commercial. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...ed_10000_f.html hehehe It's about time! I thought it would have happened in the Ducks series!

dragonballgtz 273 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) About time someone called out the officals. This playoff year they have been really bad in almost every series played. EDIT: I think its funny that calling out a ref is worth 10k but causing an injury is only 2.5k Edited May 26, 2009 by dragonballgtz
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 I'd like to see a ref get slapped with that kind of fine from time to time. Not really defending Q, but come on. Watson can pull a disphit move like his Hossa non-call and get off scotch free, but if someone says something negative about officiating that someone has to cough up $10,000? Hurray for double standards.

Hurray for double standards. I pretty much agree. I guess it's the manner in which he said it. He said "worst call in sports" in a post game interview and that it ruined the game. That probably scares owners and s*** about anarchy and seceding from the NHL or something. Opens up a can of worms I guess. Comcast makes $34.3 billion a year so like, that scares Comcast. But they should make the reasons why they fined him public. They just say he was fined for what he said but don't give reasons why what he said was wrong. I mean, It's not immediately obvious. Which kind of indicates that yeah, the reffing does suck and they don't want many people to know about it. Edited May 26, 2009 by Zetterling
Kira 451 Report post Posted May 26, 2009 This isn't his first time where he's crossed the path (as well as the ire) of the officials. This time, though, it cost him big bucks. I can remember when he was with the Blues, and the game got pretty well out of hand when the Blues players went after us (that's the game when Joe Kocur got tossed for throwing the chair - remember that gem?). So this isn't the first time he's tried to bully people around and then been called on the carpet for some pretty shabby behavior. And I'm sure it won't be the last. At least when Mike Babcock doesn't like the calls, he's either subtle about it, or he keeps his mouth shut as well as his wallet.

I look at that more as sweeping a problem under the rug. "Nothing to see here," that kind of thing. Do I think a fine is warranted against any of the refs the Wings have had to deal with in this run? Eh, not really. But there's absolutely a double standard at work, and it frustrates me to no end. I understand that sticking by the officials is "good business," but...at what point does it become bad business? Again, though: not defending Q.
