Stiffy 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I don't think I have ever seen a Cup year with this much doom and gloom. I can be as down as the next fan, but I just don't see this one as something to be so worried about. We have the deepest team imaginable, a goalie playing great and a coach who knows what it takes to win all types of playoff series. We are facing a team with two stars that while great have to do double duty on a fourth line (!!!) and haven't had anything close to the competition we will give them. Crosby and Malkin better figure out a way to get on the 2nd and 3rd line while they are at it. I'll take these back to back games, take the injuries, take the press gushing over last year's losers and everything else. The Wings are a force and are the champs. You can bet the Penns are the ones with more internal doubts at this time. The Wings are the best damn hockey team on the planet. You will see why very soon. The talk has gone on too much. Let's play the damn games! GO WINGS!!!
xtrememachine1 795 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Hell yeah! I'm with you! For me, its tough to avoid the media seeing as how I work for the media (in Pittsburgh no less). We received an email today from the NHL saying that they wanted shots of our newspaper from previous round victories for the championship DVD they're making. I'm sure they're making one for the Wings too, but just hate the thought of a championship Penguins DVD being made. *shivers*
grindlinelove 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 I know it sucks, but I'd rather have the media pumping Crosby and his bit$hes and to have us kick the living peep out of them and see what they're saying a week from now.
Jersey Wing 1,521 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 It is somewhat surprising. I felt a shade like some of them do LAST year after reading all the pro-Pittsburgh coverage everywhere. I wondered "Do I know less about these teams than I think I do?" Then the day before the Final started I read an article by the Windsor Star's Bob Duff that was carried on MSNBC and he basically told me, "No, you know what you're talking about, the Wings will win for X reasons." He was spot on. Here is Mr. Duff's article on this year's Final If Wings healed, they'll be able to deal with Pens http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/30990108/
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Thank you for being positive. This is what I have been telling everyone around me thinking the Pens are gonna demolish us. At the end of the day, we are the Detroit Red Wings and they are not. That is our advantage. Sure the Pens are more experienced now because they played in the finals last year. Guess what??? We also played in the finals last year and therefore also have another year of experience. The difference is that the Pens gained a year of experience in becoming conference champs, and we gained a year of experience for winning it all. And everyone remember that we were 34 seconds away from finishing them in 5 last year. For sure it will be closer this year, but last year was not exactly down to the wire. Sure it took 6 games, but that was extreme luck for the Pens.
#19forPresident! 1 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 (edited) The only thing certain in life is that it will eventually end, the rest is just trivial. Having said that, lets get this party started and really give people something to talk about. Should be a great series. Edited May 30, 2009 by #19forPresident! Snazzy 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2009 Who's worried? We're playing the fukin Pittsburgh Penguins. Ducks would be the team to be worried about, not the lowly eastern Pens team. We already owned this team last year when they were better. Now we're better (Hossa and Franzen).
