Guest Murph Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Cool article, but personally, I'm sick of hearing the same damn songs. I feel like I'm perpetually stuck in 1995, when I go see a Wings game.
Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I kinda wish the Wings had one song for goals, much like Chicago does. If it can get people up and kinda singing along, that makes much more noise. The repetition is awesome when you get back to back goals, too. The other team probably thinks, "oh, you're ******* kidding me. We have to listen to this AGAIN?" I don't really like that it's different for every player.

Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 they should replace the imperial march theme with this Never! That's one of the few songs that I like that they play at the Joe.
RoninJai 5 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Actually, there has been a noticable, at least to me, difference in the music starting about two years ago, and I go to about 7 games a year, give or take.
Booster313 138 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) My favorite goal song by far is Pavel Datsyuk's russian techo-mix. I don't even listen to that kind of music really but I love hearing that song at the Joe! Edited May 31, 2009 by Booster313
Hockeymom1960 5,107 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I actually like the music he plays. I like the songs he's picked for the players too.
RedWingAbner 13 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 I was under the impression that this was a secondary responsibility of an usher or something, considering the lack of new material since, oh, 1991. And for those of you who disagree and call foul on my post, I hear the Dragnet theme.

We've gone over this before: Goal 1) "Hey, Hey, Hockeytown" Every other goal) "Get Ready For This" followed by player song, if appropriate Exception) Zetterberg: "Rock n' Roll: Part 2"
Valas19 50 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 Great! Now I have the name to complain about when I send over my "suggestion" to the Wings marketing department for some of the worst songs played at a sports venue. I mean, Billy Joel!?? That really pumps everyone up. Not to mention "Right Here, Right Now" by Jesus Jones during the pre game warmup. Just awful.

Yzerman#19 17 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the article. I alway wondered who does the music at the Joe because it sucks so damn bad. I love the Joe, but the music has long been my only complaint. Some of the gimmicky stuff he does is cool. But he's way stuck in the past, plays nothing even remotely heavy EVER, and he slips in some seriously bad songs at odd times. If I hear the Violent Femmes 'Blister in the Sun' one more time at the crucial point of a game I am gonna scream. I say, listen to the Thompson Twins at home "T." On nationally televised games it is embarrassing sometimes. ed. sp Edited June 1, 2009 by Yzerman#
Michgal89 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) it's a tossup. there's some songs that he HAS to play, like Don't Stop Believin'. I'd feel cheated if I didn't get to shout "Born and raised in SOUTH DETROIT" with the rest of the Joe. And sometimes it's really clever and fitting, did you notice he played Sunday Bloody Sunday when Malkin was dumb enough to pick a fight with Zetters? But some of it is definitely cheesy. I'm getting a little tired of I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night. Edited June 1, 2009 by Michgal89

Now I have the name to complain about when I send over my "suggestion" to the Wings marketing department for some of the worst songs played at a sports venue. I mean, Billy Joel!?? That really pumps everyone up. I actually kind of like the goal songs coinciding with the goals scored, i.e. Billy Joel's "Matter of Trust" intro ("one, two, 1-2-3-4!"). I also thoroughly liked the "whoaaa...WE'RE HALFWAY THERE..." of yesterday. It would have been infinitely cooler if it were non-scripted, but I digress. My goal is to one day hear the Sesame Street pinball theme at the Joe: 1-2-3 FOUR FIVE, 6-7-8 NINE TEN, ELEVEN, TWELVE...doo doo-doo de doo doo...
